I took my son, a friend and his son to an off road event at Houston Raceway Park a few years ago just for something to do. We get there and find out that it's really tame compared to what it was supposed to be due to a couple of reschedules, but there were still a lot of Jeeps there. We watched them do some stuff for a little while then I decided the hell with it we're going in. The Duramax isn't really setup to do some of the obstacles, but it was still fun. My son loved it. It was after that weekend that I decided that we needed to do more stuff like that. I'm still trying to fit something in the budget, maybe next year.

This is my truck after going through a big mud pit a couple of times. The kids thought that was the greatest thing in the world. Mud was shooting everywhere.

Gilmer (Barnwell Mountain) is a fun place that is fairly close to you if you get something more hardcore to wheel with.

I've looked at a few old Cherokee's online. You can pick them up pretty cheap most of the time, especially compared to the Wrangler's. I've also been looking at the Polaris RZR's.

I have a RZR 800 for my boys and a CanAm Maverick Turbo. We race XC and play with the same vehicles. For just play and crawling I prefer the RZR 1000 or RZR turbo. The 4 seaters work REALLY well up at Barnwell.
