A long video but well worth the time to watch it in its entirety. Great success story showing the ups and downs of becoming a success. It doesn't come easy. There's pain at the personal level and pain at the company level. One quote that Erik made caught my attention because I'm all for creating opportunities for American manufacturing to prosper. American investors supporting American manufacturing right here in the U.S.

He said, "There's a lot of money out there today. I think more of it should be available for manufacturing jobs, for creating manufacturing jobs, in the U.S. Especially in profitable businesses." Erik's a true Iron Horse. Knock him down and he bouncing back up and pushes forward. Man it would be such a treat and such a blessing to spend just an afternoon with him, listening to him telling his story and sharing his passions. Humble and straight up guy. And EBR is a great American success story. Motor on Erik!

Hadn’t seen it but glad I watched it! This is the backbone of America, not backdoor deals and crooked politicians who’d sell out the own mother to make the quick buck.

Are you referring to Eslick’s 2009 Daytona SportBike championship? The class where an 1125cc Buell was allowed to compete with 600cc in-line 4’s? I knew people that raced Buells due to their good contingency...the valves and pistons were best buds.

No sir. Geoff May campaigned a 1190 in the superbike class before the AMA went belly up. He was regularly in the top 10.

So the EBR 1190 raced in the superbike class not the 600's.

Erik was a better engineer than business man, and of course the soft as a grape motorcycle market didn’t help.
From May 2017

“We've finally reached the final stage in the Eric Buell Racing saga. Liquid Asset Partners, which bought the Eric Buell Racing assets last year, has abandoned its optimistic talk of "finding new investors" and is now living up to its name and liquidating assets. Auctions and sales begin June 7.
The LAP web site shows everything from hand tools to machining equipment to office cubicle furniture up for sale. So for those interested in stocking their businesses, you may be able to pick up some stuff on the cheap. More likely to be of interest to Common Tread readers, however, is the liquidation of parts for Buell motorcycles.
LAP says the stock of parts will be sold off through the usual parts sale channel but at reduced prices. Parts availability has to be a significant concern for anyone who owns a Buell and plans or hopes to keep riding it for the long haul.
I am sorry to see the Buell brand disappear in liquidation. I've even pondered owning one of the bikes myself, and if I found a nice XB at a reduced price and had the garage space, I'd still be tempted, just for the uniqueness and history of it. If I couldn't get parts, I could probably get Lemmy to fabricate something for me, if I hauled enough beer up Lemmy Mountain.
But let's be real. In the current U.S. motorcycle environment, anyone who has been talking about the next comeback of Buell, the company, in the past year has been more hopeful than realistic.”

Great documentary. Erik oozes passion and is very inspiring. I want a Buell now 1000%.

You can get a good one for a decent price, I picked up my 07 XB12SS for $4k and it only has 4200 miles on it. Parts availability has not been an issue yet as it seems a couple of large Harley Davidson dealers bought up a lot of replacement / maintenance parts. The only issue I have is there is only 1 Harley dealer of the 3 within a 20 mile radius that will work on it and the one independent shop I took it to will never touch it again.
