So, I finished the TVS swap on my 2007 and the car made 646 wheel on the dyno (mustang dyno) on Tuesday and the tuner was doing some driveablilty stuff with it on the dyno after and we heard a pop, trans is broke. I pulled the trans last night, can hear stuff rattling around in the case, no bueno.

My question to you guys is what do you recommend is the next step. Want to get the car back on the road asap, what do you guys recommend for rebuild companies/whole transmissions ect.

Also, I find it strange that the TR6060 broke at this power level, trans should be able to handle considerably more without issue. Car has 21k miles on it, I've got other drivetrain supporting mods, RXT, MGW shifter, one piece driveshaft, ect

Thanks in advance.

It's out of the ordinary for a 6060 to break at your power level, you're right about that....chalk it up to bad luck I guess. You really only have two options. Magnum XL swap or have a shop like Calimer Transmissions build your 6060 back up with beefed up components. There are pros/cons to each one....the Magnum XL swap is more costly and you'd also have to buy a new shifter and driveshaft.

IF it were me I'd send it here. While they sell new, they will rebuild your transmission... with the good parts.

If you rebuild make sure to have them use the upgrade hybrid syncos so 1-2 shift is not locked out.

According to some knowledgeable people, the Magnum XL is not as strong as the TR6060 even though it touts higher torque numbers. However, the torque ratings on the TR6060 are somewhat driven by specific applications too. If you already have the MGW2, just get yours rebuilt. Regearing it may be an option too, because you likely broke a gear or two. I've only had one manual transmission failure and it takes out the gear on the main shaft and the cluster gear. If no gears work, it took out the primary gear on the main shaft.

the mag is based off the 6060 just with a different tailshaft

Gotta get it torn down first to see how bad it is. If everything inside is tore up and will need most of the internals replaced, a built replacement may be the best option.

Ive also heard good things about ben Calimer's rebuilds. Also, so a search for any Tremec authorized dealers near you. Ive found out first hand that Ford dealers don't want to mess with these transmissions.
