@Mpoitrast87 hoky shit i thought this was a tech position. By all means switch dealerships for service if you’re being underpaid competitively. As long Can do the job well. Good service is a dying art these days.

No raise in 4 ****ing years!!?? Shit on the floor and hit the door!

4 years is a long time with no pay increase. That being said, it's never a good thing to burn bridges. If you are in the middle of a project leaving people high and dry money shouldn't be the only consideration. That doesn't seem to be the case though...

That’s why I never take days off.. I hate leaving people to finish my work if I’m not there. I’m going to make sure my customers are all set before I depart.

What’s behind me, it’s not important...

Just LOL.
Duh,.............doesn't he already have a standing career with the current employer? If they're willing to pay him the same, he gets to stay where he's at and work with his buddies and get paid. Yeah, the drive is shorter with the Honda job, but at least here, he has job security, good pay and continues to work with the system/work flow that he knows and the buddies that he knows.
Just duhhh,......lol

So, I take it you don't have a family.

I mean, who the hell puts the people they work with above their family, all other things being equal?

You know I meant that if he gets the raise at his current job equal to Honda's pay to stay put, right? (Probably won't happen, but you never know.)
I guess I don't like to burn bridges as far as work goes. What happens if the Honda place isn't working out or if he is let go after 3 months? Collect unemployment? That's not a very good check. Go back to Nissan? What if they tell him to pound sand or the position is filled? Back to square one with an unemployment check to pay all the bills?
I like security, I guess. Not really a gambler.

Actually, it does exist. He's been there 4 years already. I've been at my current job at over 7 years already.
He's going to have to weigh out the options between travel time/gas/job security.
actually no it doesn't or maybe your definition of job security and mine are different. yeah he's been there 4 years with no raise at all. His company and yours both would drop you like a hot potato if they thought it was in THEIR best interest. your interests be damned. companies don't give two shits about their employees anymore since they are expendable. even government workers no longer enjoy the job security they once had

I will agree with you 100% on that.
So, if the other job is 100% guaranteed without layoff in 3 months or 4 months or long term,......then go for it without asking current employer for the same amount! It's a no-brainer.
I've seen and heard of people switching jobs and in 3 months, they're out of work. Back to square one and collecting a smaller amount unemployment check.
