Performance difference between ported PI and TFS?

Debating between porting and rebuilding PI heads or getting TFS. Engine is 4.6 with a V3 Si blower intercooled. Just a fun street car. Are there enough benefits with a supercharger to justify the extra cost?

In a max effort build, Id go with them over stock ported heads.

If you're just looking for something better than stock and its just a fun street car, stock ported heads will be just fine.

I think the price of ported heads isn’t too far off from Trick flow heads. You also have to factor in the price of cams, if you already have aftermarket cams for the stock heads.

This is what Livernois sent me about a year ago when I was looking.

If you don't already have a forged bottom end, definitely go that route first. Then pulley down the blower without concern of throwing a rod.

To answer your question tho, you can make plenty of power with ported PI heads for a street car.

If you have stock long block then just buy cams. Should be no problem picking up an extra 50-60hp relatively safely.

I'm going to be building a teksid lower with forged rods and pistons for the car next year. Trying to decide which way to go with heads since I see both used TFS and ported PI heads for sale here and there. Blower cams would be going in when I do the build.

I'm not going for crazy hp numbers. Maybe 500 rwhp and I'm at 370 now with an auto.

Could I get to 500 rwhp through an auto with ported PI heads, blower cams and 14ish psi?

Yes, I'd expect 500-525 out of that combo.

TFS heads and 16 psi would get you 600.

Go with PI heads and save some money. If you are shooting for 500 you will be good with those and cams.

I went with ported PI heads on my combo. KB at 14 PSI through an auto made 550 RWHP.

How do you like the kenne bell supercharger? I was thinking about putting the 2.1 L kit on my son's car in 2 years. Stock bottom end or forged with 14psi?
