My lines were empty from the small leak I had so I just used some towels, ziplocs and some zipties to prevent any further leakage after I disconnected the lines.

As for the vendor, I went with PitStopAuto and ordered part #1010383 for $158. It states you need to the component kit ($238 with compressor) for the warranty that I opted out for. I literally did the minimal amount of work to get AC blowing cold again and it works like a champ. It does come with the PAG oil that you will need as well.
How much of the oil did you use? you add it right into the compressor right?

Unless you see obvious leaking, I wouldn't just for the hell of it. When youre vacuuming down the system after compressor replacement, hold the system in vacuum with the pump off and check to see if you lose any.

Now that you know your compressor is shot, make damn sure there isn't any aluminum shrapnel in the oil. If it is, youll need to flush it all out.

Sucks man, but at least it seem slike there is a good replacement option!
The fact that it isn't the Evap makes me quite happy actually! Today was SO Damm Hot down here but the Cobra handled itself fine never going above 200 with the AC cranking, that's staying out of boost, haha... What is the process of flushing the system? I noticed when I turned the car off the compressor spins freely for a few seconds before stopping, is there some shaft that wears out inside? Like I said not an AC expert.

From that description, its likely the shaft broke that connects the pulley drive to the swash plate. Im not quite sure how they fail; if its a clean break or if there is shrapnel.

Easiest way is when you pull the compressor, dump the oil out of one of the ports into a cup, like a disposable coffee cup. if it looks glittery, youll want to flush.

Check out this guide here:

Its a pretty good guide. Our Mustangs have an expansion valve and I believe a desiccant pack in the condenser on the side tank.

Most of the time they have too much oil. When i drain them o usually onlly get about an ounce or two out of the old one. Some units we get come with 7oz preinstalled and the total system volume is 5oz. You have to know that oil is in every part of the system. Over oiling in a/c systems is not good. I had a customer blow up a brand new compressor from to much oil.
