Hi Everyone, I am looking for some feedback on Cobra owners who have a clear bra? I am seriously considering doing the entire front clip, mirrors, side louvers, and side skirts. I have been told the new Xpel stuff works great and does not yellow. I am concerned with it affecting the paint 5 years down the road when I need to take it off, it not looking the same as the rest of the car, and whether or not you think it is worth it. I was quoted $2,100 for install. Thanks guys!

Is it a DD? I’ve had all 5 of my cobras done but they were all garage queens. As long as you wax it or protect it it should not fade any more/less than your non protected surfaces.

You should get a hell of a lot more than 5 years out of the film FYI.

Thanks for the reply! It is not a DD, it’s a weekend car for 6-7 months a year. I’m leaning towards doing it. Did you use anything special on it to keep the shine, or just normal wash and wax?

Highly recommended. I have been using film for over 10 years. They have come so far. Now they are so good, in the last year, I have had 2 cars FULLY wrapped with Xpel. If I recall, Xpel has a 10 year warranty.

I just treat it like if it where bare paint. No issues. You’ll love it. There are plenty of really good film manufacturers out there. There’s a ton of marketing hype behind xpel. It’s great don’t get me wrong, but there are other brands that perform just as well.

Suntek, nano fusion are ones I’ve used with zero issues

I’ve got XPEL Ultimate on the front of my 04 and feel it’s worth every penny. I had the entire car ceramic coated afterwards and I’ve got to say the upkeep/maintenance has been a breeze.

I had a patent idea a couple years ago and tested all the films for which was strongest and which healed the best if something hit it.

3M was by far superior and it's also been on my car for close to 10 years now and still looks in great condition.

This thread is what I was looking for. I have an extra front bumper, with no front license plate, painted and sitting in my basement and I was thinking of putting this one it before I mount it.

Can this work on headlights? I have a new set sitting in my basement and I was thinking of doing this to protect it also.

My car is a garage car that gets driven on the weekends and is stored in the winter.

Someone was making a headlight kit for a while but I can't remember who it was or I think why they stopped. My 3M new and a few years after sure would work easily for headlights. It's easy to take off so you could change it every couple years worst case.

Yes, it will work for your headlights as well. I’ve got film on them and I also have a spare set that I’ll be covering when the time comes. Excellent protection from UV damage and road debris.

Are you guys doing this yourself, or having some place do it? My bumper has the normal rock chips, but I've considered this.

Bumper = professionally applied

Headlights = all me

All you need is a heat gun, window cleaner, squeegee, razor and some patience. Bumper on the other hand looks to be a PITA so I paid a pro.

I bought a kit year's ago, pre-cut for the whole bumper from a member on here. I'll have to look at it, can't remember the brand.

I have seen those in person, and every time I could see the dust line on the hood where a partial piece was installed. Now, if it's one continous piece covering an entire body part, that would be better.

But $2100?!? No way, thats a raping. Does that include some pre-work like a complete paint correction before hand? If it does, that might be more in line. Similar to doing a ceramic coating, I would want the paint flawless before installation, or I'm afraid you're just going to seal in imperfections that will be visible later. Quality paint correction is labor intensive and takes hours of work. And it's dangerous in the hands of people that are clueless to the pitfalls of burning thru the clear.

It is for a full front end covering entire hood, entire front fenders, bumper, headlights, mirrors, side skirts, and side louvers. So there won’t be any lines showing. And I live in Boston, everything here is more expensive than the rest of the country, unfortunately.
