Has any put a high flow H-pipe on but left the complete stock exhaust. I've done it on a 95 and sounds fine but concerned with the 4.6 motor. I do like it quiet but man this thing is super quiet .Not looking to put an exhaust just for a tiny bit more and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to dump the four cats.

Mine has the cats and a set of generic turbo muffs. One of the best sounding Stangs Ive ever owned. My tailpipes are flat black, if they will not clean up I will replace them with oem, otherwise Im leaving mine alone.

Stock manifolds to VRS/UPR catted X to flowmaster 40s and stock tailpipes. Car sounds amazing and I'm not a huge fan of flowmasters either. Lots of ppl put aftermarket midpipes on stock catbacks tho, I mean see how it sounds. If you hate it then get some new mufflers welded into the stock catback or get a new catback.

I did a catted H pipe with stock aft cats for awhile. It sounded niceer than stock, it was deeper tone and a more mellow rumble, but a little louder at the same time. Many folks do it for different reasons, mine was $$, trying to stay on a budget.

My 97 Cobra is my fun car only, i.e. not a DD or for commuting. It has a muffler delete and 3" pipes after the cats and stock H Pipe. Car sounds glorious, especially with the windows down. Yes, it is loud when you're engaging the fun pedal, but when cruising in 5th, you can easily hold a conversation with someone in the car.

Guys I really appreciate the feedback but I think we diverted off topic, I was hoping to get advice from guys with completely stock exhaust. To also divert ......I put Borla with a h-pipe on a 95 and never looked back. It really has a unique sound and I'm so biased to there mufflers now but unique i met to the 5.0 motor. Never heard a borla on a 98. Well I bought a bbk H-pipe unfortunately they do not make a stainless h-pipe for 98 cobras. I will post back on my option on how it sounds.

I've got a catted Bassani X pipe on mine with the stock mufflers and tail pipes. It's a little louder than it was. The Bassani mid pipe has two cats where the stock had four. I like the sound.

I had a 95 Cobra. FRPP Ceramic shorties, OR H pipe and a Dynomax Ultraflow catback. Thing sounded like a combination of Fergi and Jesus.

I found my stock mufflers in the attic and have been contemplating taking off the magnaflows and putting them back on in the hopes of quieting it down a bit. I have BBK Long tubes and off road X.
