Not a "big" blower but used the KB motor mounts with a 2.8 LC and have had zero nvh issues or clearance problens. Car druves as good if not better than stock.

Got the chance to meet a very VERY cool member of this site last night, Willie. Ill say this right now: If Willie chimes in on a post or thread or question, trust his opinion. The man knows what he is talking about. Point blank. :D One of the coolest, complete and personalized cars ive ever seen.

Without spoiling the details, hes got a rather tall supercharger under his hood. His hood is a Trufiber A53KR hood. Even with the KB 3/4" motor mounts in there, its STILL a tall S.O.B needing every inch of clearance the Trufiber provides to fit. Not even a slight chance in hell this big bastard supercharger will ever fit under a stock hood. Not even close lol

2 things: Oh hells to the yes I know Im going with a KB 4.2 or 4.7. Getting a return system first and big ID injectors for ethanol. I get the feeling this BAF will blow right past what pump fuel octane can support at part throttle.

and

Ive decided that I really like the look of the Trufiber A53KR on 10+ GT500s. Its nearly identical to the original 2008 KR hood and... well... it looks really cool. No way with a large KB will there ever be a chance to pass the car off as a sleeper even if I could stuff it under the stock hood. So why hide it. :D

Have you thought of turbos? I think I would go this route over >4 litre blower. Just me though.

I have ne of those GT500KR TF hoods for my 2008. It is still in the box, but I have had it out and it looks like a very well build hood.

I picked up a Kinetik Motorsports crank saver stud (ARP2000) kit earlier this year. Still need to install it. Email with Kinetic confirmed what I thought: It was designed to reinforce the GT500 crank snout to safely run larger superchargers like a 4L. Just need to inspect the keyway and make sure its undamaged. If its ok, then the kit will keep it alive and happy.

As for boost i plan to run the biggest pulley they have with my stock crank pulley. This is the last supercharger I want to have to buy so ethanol and safer timing should help.

Willie's a cool mofo and a great guy. He even shipped spare parts to me to help diagnose a pulley issue. Very cool dude.

I ran into a similar issue just this week, finished the install for my 3.4 whipple I bought the motor mounts to drop the motor and the blower does not clear the hood. I can get the hood to close but you can tell its bending from the blower case. The motor mounts are really annoying as they are completely solid. Have yet to drive at high speed but even low rpms vibrates the car like crazy. I just ordered the BMC extreme customs black mamba hood so I can go back to the stock motor mounts. I really wanted the genuine super snake hood but was going to cost 1900 without paint and was back ordered 2-6 weeks. I almost bought trufibers hood as well as my roommate had one on his coyote, looked great and the fit was really good as well but I personally prefer the cleaner and more subtle styling of the super snake hood.

That's going to be badass. Good choice. Cornfed KB FTW...even if you could hide it under a stock hood, that SOB is a screamer.

@Handlebar Moustache Im looking forward to it. Calling Whipple tomorrow to cover all the bases, but Im pretty sure Ill go KB. The price difference between the 3.6, the 4.2 and 4.7 isnt all that much. For what you get with KB, its really reasonable.

I did talk to KB yesterday. The boost level with the biggest upper pulley and factory lower its about 25lbs for the 4.2! Biggest upper they make is 4.0", the rep even called it a wagon wheel lmao! Whipple's largest for the 4.0L is 4.75" and for the 4.5L its 5". Ill give Whipple a call tomorrow to see where the boost levels are with their big boys.

I may be forced to replace the stock rods and add cams before I can get the blower and fuel system though. That much boost on stock rods has me seeing a toothpick trying to hold up a cinder block. I know myself enough that I wouldnt be able to resist WOT pulls just for shits and giggles. Also knowing myself, I wouldnt be able to keep it to a reasonable number. Per Hour. lmao!

For sure. It would be a waste to get a mega blower and then have to keep it dialed down so it doesn't destroy your stock internals. Dont be the guy running a 4.5 at 14lbs of boost..... You will be better off with a 2.8/2.9 if you are not building your motor.

With my jdm motor/cams and over 6000rpm the gen2 tvs made 17psi 15pct/2.5
Whipple 3.4 21.5 psi 15pct/3
Whipple 4.0 23psi 15pct/3.5
Whipple 4.0 25psi 15pct/3.25

I appreciate the numbers sir. Good Lord, the Whipple 4.0 moves the air doesnt it!

I was able to call Whipple today. According to the rep I spoke with a 4.5 Whipple with stock lower and 5" upper would pump about 18-19 PSI on a stock GT500. Im going to round up to 20-21 real world. 18-19 on cams and headers.

Need better rods!
