Well its been awhile since I originally created this thread. Finally decided to go with an AirRaid CF Intake and a AED 93 and Drag tune. Installed the intake and tune a few weeks back but was just too busy to play with the car. Finally had time yesterday afternoon.

Pros:
First I will say that this combination of tune/intake really make power. Especially above 3500-rpms, the car is now breaking the tires free at speeds I hadn't experienced before. Idle and ramp up in rpms is great. Honestly the car feels like it has gained 30+hp from my butt dyno.

Cons:
I have always driven my car with the RedKey. While the car is most likely faster with the new Tune/CAI combo, I miss the characteristics of the RedKey, especially the aggressive idle and lower RPMs response. I wish a tuner was able to keep the RedKey functions yet tune for more power.

Considering:
I am considering adding a BBK 85-mm TB in the hopes of getting some of that very low RPM throttle response back. Has anyone tried this?

Why not get AED’s Ghost cam tune? Gives the idle a little more aggressive lope then the track key. I don’t think I lost any low end response on his tune.

Is AED's Ghost cam tune recommended w/cats in place?

Also, if people don't mind me asking, roughly how much $ is a AED tune?

The tune is $75US. I am still running the tune with cats. This tune will wear out the cats a little faster if you idle quite a bit. I am a mechanic so it really doesn’t bother me too much. I’ll just put longtubes in with no cats when that happens

The drivability is a little more tough though. When you are in 1st gear slowly moving forward, the car tends to jerk a lot. It doesn’t bother me, but it may bother others. Definitely sounds better then the track key. Also makes the car shake more as well.

12WhiteBoss302, thanks for sharing. $75 sounds like cheap money for a performance boost.

No problem! There is no performance boost between all of his tunes. I have three tunes from him and they all offer the same performance boost. They are all just different in there own way.

The main one is the performance tune, which is your basic tune. The second is the idle lope tune, which is the same as the performance tune but it adds the lopey idle. And the third is the drag tune, which is the same as the performance tune as well but it disables traction control/advance track.

Is there not a way to manually over ride or shut off TC/AT on the Boss, stock or w/ his "Basic/Performance tune"? Also does his tunes raise the RPM shut down? If so by how much?
I could manually shut off TT/AT in my old 2012 GT. Is there more to the "Drag Tune" than locking out those features? Sorry for so many questions, but I have never ran any "Tune" before, and am try to learn the pros and cons of them. Thanks in advance.

I have had an AED tune for years and love it. My tune was more than $75 (I think maybe $150-200 - it's been several years so I don't recall) but mine included a few datalogging sessions so he could customize it for my car. Initially he set the rev limit at 8200 for me (the race cars used 8400 with basically stock engines and had no failures) but I found that my engine was pretty much done making power by 78-7900 so I dialed it back down to 7900rpm rev limit through my SCT handheld tuner device.

Yes, you can turn everything of manually by placing foot on the brake while stopped, then holding down the TC button for about 5 seconds.

Yes you can turn everything off manually stock and with his basic tunes, but sometimes it can be a hassle. And it would be one less thing to think about when your racing. There is nothing else to the drag tune as far as I know.

I’m not 100% certain if he raises the rpm on stock motors or not. I wouldn’t be going past 7500 anyways on a stock motor. But yes if you do have a SCT tuner you can easily change the limit.

With his tuning you need a handheld tuner, like a SCT tuner, and you also need a laptop. He will send you a base tune and you will need to data log off of his base tune. Then from there he will adjust the tune and get you to do at least one more. I had to do like 12 data logs because my car had a knock and was running lean. He helped me figure that stuff out. The performance tune is $250 and the idle lope tune is $75 on top of the $250. So it was a total of $325.

Just throwing in my two cents. I had Shaun tune my car about five years ago and still love it. I have the ghost tune, performance tune and tune with all the nags turned off. I had mine done at his shop and all the tunes are within a couple of horsepower. I have 440 to the wheels with 400 in torque. My mods are steed cai, jba mid length headers and cat deletes. I am trying to decide on what other mods I might add to go with a new tune before I ship my car and myself off to panama for retirement

I have read in many forums that this ghost cam tune is not ideal for the motor, and is not meant to be an everyday type of tune. Honestly I will just switch back to stock/red key rather than put undue stress on the motor. For now I am enjoying the 93 performance tune.
