I’m sure there have been a lot of threads about this, but I just wanted to get current opinions on the matter because of the situation I’m in.
I currently have a race red ‘17 GT base with LTs, PMAS, tune, and sportlines. I enjoy the car, and have put 14k miles on it since I bought it new last October. It should be noted though that I absolutely hate red lol. It has been a best of 7.71@91mph with a 1.82 60ft on nitto radials. I feel like I’ve hit a wall as far as mods go before I dish out $1300+ on a 4C, install, and retune.
Well I have a chance to trade mine in on a slightly used ‘18 base GT with 3.55s and the A10 with 5,200 miles that came into the dealership I work at. But I’m pretty sure this car has the tick that everyone talks about. I’ve even thought my ‘17 has it, but this ‘18s is much louder it seems. Besides that, I love the car. It’s magnetic grey which is awesome, and has the updated styling that I like a lot. And is currently priced $3000 lower than what I owe on the ‘17.
I really want this car, but I’m worried about that tick. Is this something that dealers are fixing without a huge fight? I’ve read so many forums from people saying it was just bad springs in the IMRCs to bad phasers or even cam or rod bearings and some guys having the whole long block replaced, if they’re lucky.
What are you guys experiences with it?
