not at my post...
word

I just filled up for 2.89..
I dont see a problem..

Not my fault you're mad you arent running around in a horse and buggy anymore old man

100% incorrect. Profits are based on contracts. Some were still making money at $19 a bbl, some were losing millions.

Some are making billions at $65 a bbl some are making millions

You aint lying

I work for an oil company too. I don’t mind high prices at the pump, it’s a barometer for work, projects we will have. I can say until recently it’s been tougher than woodpecker lips.

ah ok gotcha. thanks for the explanation. I used up a little over a half a tank today so had to top off for tomorrow. Gas has dropped another .04 at one of the places I buy. regular is 2.08. premium is 2.58. Round rock is not exactly a teeny tiny town. but I do see your point

Where I live is Oil country USA.. population has doubled in a year due to oil.. so they raise the prices here.

2.89 is definitely regular lol

its cheaper in the teeny tiny towns.

if it was 2.12 here, oil prices would probably be lower... and when oil prices go down.. so do my bonuses haha

I would personally like to see gas prices back under the $2 per gallon mark. I would really like to see regular 87 sell for $1.50 or less.

Taxes are another component of the price you pay for gas. You went from one of the lowest state gas tax rates in 2012 to a middle of the road state in just 6 years.

your post kinda proves my point. but gas is supposed to be a "supply and demand" type of thing. but it's not it has joined the ranks of the speculator. By your comment I am guessing you were not around for the gas crisis of the early 70s.

no you don't you love your hair plugs

No I wasn't...Im 40

West coast states are a good example of the taxes raising the price of gas .
I am paying 285.9 today when AAA said the average price in the US today Is 230 something for regular .

While we are own the subject of gas can anyone explain why there is such a big price difference in regular vs premium compared to say 10 years ago? I remember all my childhood and teenage years up into my early twenties a .20 cent difference in premium over regular but now that I'm older and own 2 vehicles that run premium there is a .70 - .90 cent difference.

Any ideas?

Yeah it used to be 10c per grade in my area, 89 was say 2.00, 91 2.10, 93 2.20

Now it's 87 2.89, 89 3.33, 93. 3.65
And diesel is 3.79...used to be cheaper than regular 87

I never understood why people stand in line to buy a 12 oz water in a fancy bottle with a fancy label for $1.89, then complain about $2.50 + for a gallon of gas...
Oil companies & drilling companies were operating at $30 oil. But is wasn't pretty. Massive layoffs, 0 money spent on exploration/expansion.
Of course everyone loves cheap gas. But there is a limit.
People living in non-oilfield states don't realize the impact on the economy with cheap oil prices in place.
I'm not banging the gong for $100 oil, bit there is a limit on the low end for it to remain profitable for U.S. companies.

I think very few people here who are complaining would stand in line for a bottle of water that cost 1.89

I was referring to population in general. I see it every day. Fancy shaped bottle, fancy name, catchy label. Water is water. I don't need mine to be allegedly imported from Fiji or some other exotic place. It's all most likely from a tap in Tennessee somewhere.
Don't get me started on $4 energy drinks. I bet many here slam one every day.

OPEC has been reducing production trying to drive prices up but to no avail. We're winning! Texas right now is the new Alaska gold rush. If I was younger I'd be there.
Opec has stated they will have to back the truck up and come up with a new plan.
