AEV offered a truck version for a number of years. Problem was they were silly expensive (but you could get a Hemi V8 in them).

The diesel engine option has taken forever. I thought it would never happen.

I didnt know that. I knew they had the pickup bed conversion you could do but I have only seen one or two of those on the street. I know it was expensive to do.

ahhhhh see I've seen this before, and was like 'But this is not new....'

But it was an aftermarket conversion, not manufactured by Jeep themselves.

Got it! I've seen a few of them around, called Brutes right?

EDIT : Yes Brute is the current conversion

Ya they're pretty pricey but have been around for a minute.

All-New 2020 Jeep® Gladiator - The New Standard

Jeep Gladiator - YouTube

Jeep launched the long awaited Jeep Wrangler truck, now called Jeep Gladiator, at the 2018 LA Autoshow. This thing looks bad ass. Still a Wrangler, but its definitely more truck.

7000lb + towing capacity, 1600lb haul capacity.

Im a Ford man through and through, but Id rather have A Gladiator over a Ranger any day of the week. Also, this makes Ford's decision to NOT offer a competing Ranger Raptor here in the US a very poor one.

Already a thread in Pics and Vids.

I have to say: that is the ugliest new vehicle I've seen in a long time. It is the mullet of the vehicle world.

Must be a Jeep thing...that's one ugly ass truck...suv... That's cool it has lockers and other off-road goodies, but the approach (departure?) angles have to be absolute garbage with the limo wheelbase and really long bed-overhang. Looks like another stellar mall crawler.

Its not meant to replace the Wrangler Rubicon in the hierarchy of capability. Even in the Rubicon version of the Gladiator, I wouldnt expect it to have a prayer on the same type of tough rock terrain that the 2 door Rubicon could easily laugh off.

BUT short of rock crawling and other extreme off-road disciplines, its the best midsized truck with offroad capabilities.

Then again, if an Excursion can do it...

Saw something on the gram the other day that the approach angle is better than an lj rubicon, departure only slightly worse and the only area it really suffers is breakover angle which is to be expected for something of this wheelbase. I expect this thing will do much better than people think in the rocks. It still wouldn't be my choice though just because of the overall length, turning radius and living on the east coast. If I were close to Moab I might consider one though.

Having been in a completely bone stock (even the tires) 4 door Rubicon up in the rock trails in Vegas south of Hoover Dam, I can tell you these things are amazing off road. Sure a shorter wheel base is better but you'd be amazed with the longer base too.
