Actually yes. We had a pipe burst underground last year and our neighbor happened to be outside at 6am. He ran over and dug through the valvebox to shut it down, getting soaked and covered in mud in the process. Really good guy, I still owe him a favor.

Tied one on last night. Fell asleep about 6:30 and didn't wake up until 10:30. My garage was open the whole time and my neighbor called me and rang my bell but I didn't wake up. He finally walked into my garage and hit the button, closed the garage and skipped outside. He sent me an e-mail this AM to explain what happened. I responded and thanked him and went over this afternoon to thank him again. Do you have good neighbors like this?

You sure he didn't take something on his way out?:D

At the shop I used to work at we had neighbors that were section 8 and the guy that ran that block was Quincy and he was always outside on the sidewalk watching everything. We made friends with him and he always called us when something was going on and helped us find out who the person was causing trouble. He even pulled a burglar out of one of the windows to our building as he was already half way inside. The guy actually tried to stab him before running off and we found the guy later who was a local tweaker.

Nothing really serious happened the entire time he lived there because the neighborhood knew. They knew he was watching and he told everyone we had more guns and training than anyone lol.

He was a good guy and Im actually still friends with him even though we have all moved on.

I thought I had good neighbors when I first moved into my house, but they eventually showed their true colors. Neighbor across the street thinks hes the aldermen. The couple next door are total arses. Neither one of them speak to me but if they see my lady out they will honk as they drive by and sometimes stop and talk. He's a very thirsty dude too, always trying to flirt with any female. Neighbor's suck lol.

It's easier to point out the neighbors I don't like versus the ones that I do. But briefly...

My adjacent neighbors are great. We've exchanged keys, grab each others mail/packages when out of town, put out & put away garbage cans, blow leaves out of their yard when I'm out there anyways... etc. We have kids of similar age so it's very easy to hang out, grab a few drinks, and socialize. Once a month my court has a get together with drinks and a pot luck. It's good for neighbor building.

The one house (at my 2 o'clock if I'm looking towards the street) is a problem. They are the only renters on my street and they have a shit ton of inoperable cars with expired registration and leaky engines. I constantly report them to the City for ordinance violations. They are up all hours of the night yelling and doing tweeker stuff. My neighbor that's next to them invited me over to take a peek at their backyard. They're junkers. They literally collect junk. I counted numerous lanterns, tables, chairs, hot tubs, and other stuff no one wants. At any given moment, there's at least 6-8 people that live in this 1100 sqft 3 bedroom 1 bath home. I hate them. They are the eye sore of my court and constantly have "visitors."

It used to be worse when they didn't know I was a cop, so after tagging their stuff once, it's really tamed down. They play the game by shuffling their cars around, parking them around the corner or on private property for a bit then bringing them back. Luckily, their lease is up in February so I'm hopeful the property owner wises up and serves them a notice to vacate.

County neighbors are the best. Living outside DC for over 30 HOA years, nieghbors sucked. Out here everyone respects your privacy, but gets involved when needed.
