* do not buy from a dealership
* plenty of good deals on this forum, AND, you get a better history of the car and owners
* get a $2,000 hooptie to daily drive. Add it to your loan for the sports car
* a GT is still.....just a GT, no matter what
* do not rule out buying an '11-'12 Shelby

I have had a bolt on 13 GT500 and a 850rwhp S550. Would take the Shelby all day. It’s so much more fun to drive. Besides the whole ‘status’ of driving a Shelby, the torque is unreal and the Tr6060 (compared to the MT82) is amazing. GT500 just has a personality of its own.

Edit..yes, 5.0 would walk the Shelby in a roll race but faster doesn't always = funner

Whatever you decide, get the Vin # and any Ford Dealer can run you a free Oasis Report. Full Ford history. Do it before you buy. My vote is for the Shelby.. Good luck!!

If it means anything I just purchased a 2014 GT500 with 12,300 miles for 47k. The dealer wanted 54k for it but I talked them down to the price I wanted. And it has every option besides the glass roof. Tax title license out the door was 50k even. And it’s CPO with a new set of tires on the dealers dime.

Entry cost will be a lot less for an older 11-16 GT, or even 10-12 GT500, than on a low mileage 13/14GT500.

If I were comparing these cars for a regular, if not daily, commuter, I’d probably lean toward an older GT.

The Shelby has a much better transmission and driveshaft. But personally if I could have a do over I’d buy 11-12 instead of my 13, you can make a lot more power for the same price.
That being said I do prefer 13s over 14s (if you are dead set on a trinity) just for the 20th Anniversary lighted brushed Aluminum door sills.

I also vote GT500. And I get the advice of guys about the 11-12 GT500 being way less on initial costs with even a bit of wiggle room to stay under the '14 budget by investment in a complete Trinity SC upgrade package at lesser cost than most aftermarket blowers alone. If I were looking at Mustangs for a blower or turbo investment I'd lean towards a used Boss 302.

You will come across guys that got GTs and regret not ponying up for a GT500. I do not think you will come across anyone that got a GT500 and regrets not getting a GT.

I have had my 13 GT500 for right at 3 years and I had looked at the newer 15-17 Mustang GT's and thought about putting the new 2650 TVS, update the half shafts.
But every time, I just look at the Shelby and say, Hell No, I ain's trading this off.
Even 6 years old and these cars are still #1.
Looks, status, and plain old Bad Ass power and Torque.
Before I even drive mine, I notice my heart rate increases, focus tightens up as I know that the drive is going to be Epic.
Last year, I drove a 17 Roush RS3 with the A6 and I still would not have traded.
So I think this is an Unbiased opinion, based on real life experiences this these cars.

I went from a 2011 and a 2013 gt500 bought both new and I have a 2014 blown gt they're great cars. You have to make your own choice. I'm happy with my choice as far as the tr6060 I has to have the 1st one replaced totally after being rebuilt on the 2011. The 2013 had to have a new clutch when it was new .I do love the gt500 though but I wont buy another just me .

Resale will be better with the Shelby than a blown GT. You will take a much worse hit someday when getting rid of the GT.
