Have you looked into CBD oil? It has helped my wife's anxiety a lot. She's on 10 mg a day and it takes about 4 weeks of everyday use for it to make a difference.
I keep hearing a lot about this lately.

I can literally take almost a fifth a vodka and get zero drunkeness. That's why I started this thread.

Yeah I think I need to walk away from the booze all together. It just does not solve any situation I am currently in. Just an excuse and crutch.

Sometimes I think half the reason I drink so much is because I am bored. I hate living where I do and don't have much to do.

Whatever you do brother, stay away from the booze. There are people who can drink occasionally and not need/want, and those who have to have.
Find something, anything to replace the addiction with. It takes a bigger toll than you realize

Dipping, 20+ years and counting. I like to think I'm conservative with it, I go through a can every 2-3 days. I know guys that easily do 2 cans in a 12hr work shift. But addiction is addiction regardless of what it is. Certain things trigger the need (out of habit maybe) for it. Working on my cars or doing some yard work, stuff like that. I'm not the type to need nicotine after I eat or right when I wake up. But it is expensive and I need to quit for sure.

I can literally take 350mg caffeine and I get zero jitters.

When I was in college, I was routinely drinking 2 full pots of coffee per day. Of course, I was working 6-8 hours on top of 2-3 classes per day. It sucked. I cut back to 2 cups of coffee per day max a few years ago.

My worst addiction is work. If I'm awake, I'm working on something, whether it is "work-work" or house-work, etc. If I pause and sit for 2 minutes, I fall asleep. It's like that movie Crank but instead of dying I just fall asleep. Unfortunately, a routine of doing nothing but work comes with its fair share of ailments. I've averaged 3000hr work-years and I completely regret wasting so much of my life on it.

I see a couple of you guys saying you may be doing what you're doing because of boredom. Is it still considered addiction at that point? Cause you arnt doing it cause you need to, but because there isnt anything else to do.

I’m addicted/obsessed with lifting weights. I’m never satisfied and do it all the time even if I don’t feel like it. I could never stop.
I really don’t want to though.

I could have the best day but if I didn’t lift it would be a shit day unless it’s the weekend. I don’t let myself do it on the weekends.

The only time I’m not too bad is when I travel but when I get home it’s worse than ever.
I call my lifting weights a lifestyle. I've been doing it 3+ days a week for 13+ years.

As someone who's been in that position i do. I dont drink, smoke or dip. but, I live in the middle of no where and all of my friends chose my girlfriend over me when we broke up. So, for a long time i literally went to work then home then sat on the couch til i went to bed. Did that for almost a year. Having that kind of isolation made we want to drink and sometimes i wish i coul but, i just cant stomach any kind of alcohol.

as someone who comes from a smaller town (only thing to do was go to the bowling alley, no movie theatre, no malls, nothing) with 4 generations of alcoholics on my fathers side, no. I don't agree. Its a conscious choice to sip alcohol / smoke / whatever the ****.

Saying you couldn't play video games instead? Read a book? Teach yourself a skill? Come on man.

At least call a spade a spade. We're all adults here.

Smoked/dipped for 20 years then finally quit last year on my Bday and the reason I did it was not because of the cash, but seeing my father go through a life time of smoking made me not want my boys to have to see that with their father. I don't miss the smell or my life revolving around a *** or lip, but I do miss the initial light up of a Marlboro red or when someone packs a can, that shit makes my knees buckle.
Now for the booze, I can comfortably say that I am a functional alcoholic. I drink practically everyday but in not in excess each time. There are days where I get after it for no apparent reason and I can't remember the shit I did the night before. I stick to either beer or vodka because after a few years I saw how much of an asshole I would become if I drank whiskey.
Trust tree gentlemen.

"Boredom" is the symptom, not the root cause for sure.

Not trying to insult anyone here- I certainly have my own fun little set of issues to deal with, and it's very easy to say "eh, I'm just bored." We've all been there.

Pretty much a caffeine addict as well. I don't do coffee but powdered energy drinks and Pepsi Max are my goto.

I find myself drinking on weekends when we don't really have anything planned. Mowing the lawn, doing laundry, cleaning the cars/boat, watching movies or watching the NFL/UFC is more fun when having a couple. That will come to a halt when the little guy comes in a few months though.

[bcolor=transparent]This is insane. If you tell me you weigh less than say 260, you are some sort of drinking machine. Kinda scary that you are a teacher....[/bcolor]

[bcolor=transparent]Let's trade locations for a year. Besides what Vegas has to offer for fun I would enjoy boating on Colorado River and Lake Mead, shooting/hunting/4 wheeling in the desert, all the national parks and being within a 5 hour drive from the ocean (and Mexico if I so desired). My wife and I are actually flying into Vegas in February, heading to Lake Havasu City for a week and then a couple days before heading back. We are looking forward to the time in the Southwest and to get out of the Wisconsin winter.[/bcolor]

[bcolor=transparent]Wisconsin is alright a couple of the months out of the year but I've never really gotten into winter things other than skiing when I was a kid and a little bit of ice fishing. Also, you have to drive quite a long ways before the scenery changes into anything other than forests or flat plains. [/bcolor]

Bummer of a situation. I sorta had that once, gf and I broke up and my friends kept calling to invite her over because one guy in the group (who was not a friend) wanted her and the other friends wanted her sister. Like what the **** guys.

If you find a hobby you'll find other like minded people.

Well, I quit smoking about sixteen years ago, and I have maybe two beers a week. I quit doing heavy drugs a lifetime ago. I must have maybe two or three cups of coffee a day. I have a couple of addictions that haven't left me, but I'm not spilling the beans.

some we take to the grave, huh Mary? :)
