OK were to start. So I'm not the best at write ups so don't flame me lol. I know when I tried searching for pictures and info on putting LTs on a GT500 there wasn't much info or not a lot of pictures. Normally I would put this in the 13/14 section but I feel there is a lot more traffic in the regular GT500 section. Anyway onto the nightmare of doing headers on our cars.

So this is were we begin, first things you want to start with is removing your intake system, battery and battery tray, you have to remove the tray to gain access to the EGR tube.

Now you will loosen up the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold with a 1 1/16 wrench, you will also want to loosen the tube from the EGR valve itself just so you can move the tube around freely.

As you can see on the passenger top side there isn't much room, but you can get all the bolts lose on the top of the manifold, Oh and they're all 13mm nuts...just in case you wanted to know.

Now the driver side has a lot more room as you can see, same process, remove all the top exhaust manifold nuts. Also don't be surprised if some studs come out when removing the nuts. They can easily be reinstalled

now remove your factory or aftermarket exhaust mid pipe. The passenger side 02 sensor comes out before remove the mid pipe, it's a 22mm wrench and the factory nuts are 15mm.

Next is removing the starter, it has 3 10mm bolts that hold it in.

Alright, So unfortunately this is were things started pissing me off, I quickly realized that pulling the K-member was going to make my life so much easier. Now you can do this job as many people have before me, but I was on a time table so shit had to get finished. To remove the K-member they're 8 18mm bolts that have to be removed along with the 2 tie rod end bolts and the steering shaft and the control arm bolts, (use a paint marker to mark the steering shaft so you don't need a alignment) now I did this job on a lift so I used a transmission jack to lower the K-member down, buts probably 100 pounds so you and a friend can lift it off together.

once the K-member is down I removed the motor mount brackets off the block and you have room for days to do the headers.

Now comes the fun part, putting your headers in. I purchased these header bolts http://www.cjponyparts.com/mr-gaske...5m-set-4-6-5-0-coyote-5-4-1996-2014/p/EXHDB8/

So What worked best for me is I only used 3 of the bolts and used the factory studs. on the driver side I used 2 of the bolts on the rear bottom of the header. The passenger side I used only one of the bolt on the bottom rear. Now please make sure you take your time to tighten all the header bolts/nuts together.

This is the engine mount bracket I'm talking about

Now I understand and I'm sure I missed a few key details that will help you do this install but I want this thread to be here to help anyone who wants to attempt this install. So please if you have any good tips or pictures on how to make the job easier than add to the thread.

If you have questions just ask, I should be able to answer any one of them. The install took me about 6 to 7 hours.

Sounds good, what make are the SS axle backs?
Its basically the Borla S-type axle back with the big oval tips.
Great write up and car sounds killer. I will attempt my install starting Tuesday or Wednesday.
Thanks man, like I said I'm not good at write ups. But I wanted to have some information on how to do it. Definitely plan out two days to do it, if you drop the K member it will make life easy.

Thanks buddy, You will want to use the factory studs on both sides expect on the passenger side on the bottom back bolt you will need to use one header bolt and on the driver side bottom rear you will need use two headers bolts. No way in hell will you be able to use studs in those spots. If you want PM me and I'll send you a few of the aftermarket bolts I have left from my install since I only used 3 of them lol. The passenger side you need to be very careful and tighten all the bolts together or the header won't go on correctly.

How's it going, did you finish the install?
I finished it up. My brother has a shop with a lift, thank God! I bow down to all who have done this on your back. It is not for the faint of heart at all. Pulled the K member, motor mounts, starter, etc...jacked the motor a bit with a tranny jack. Honestly after listening to all the forum header fights and following all the directions everyone gave I ended up reusing the factory studs and sending the Stage 8 bolts back. I think the hardest part was getting the dipstick tube back in from below (didn't happen). Ended up getting on a ladder from up top to maneuver it around better. It is tight. Also the EGR tube was a PITA to get the threading going on the header. Took a full 7-8 hours. I think after doing it once we could do it again in 5-6. Most of it is wondering what we "should" do.

Good job. I installed my LTH about 2 years ago, using jack stands, but didn’t drop the K member (but should’ve). Be sure to double check for exhaust leaks near the H pipe.

Wish I would've had this write up when I was doing my headers. I gave up. Either way it sounds damn good. Great write up too.
