Im at 92,000 miles on my 08. Bought it in 2010 with 16k miles and let it sit for 3yrs while i was stationed in Hawaii. Started doing mods around the 65-70k mile mark and shes run great the entire time. The only issues ive had were the alternator crapping out at 55k and then again within a week of installing the new one lol. I also have the intermittent geind going 1st to 2nd. They did the TSB on mine but it still rears its ugly head from time to time.

Question to other high mileage daily driver folks. What issues have you had as the mileage went up that might be worth nipping in the bud now, vice waiting for them to happen?

I replaced the rear end with a Detroit True-Trac so it should be sound for a while. Replaced the suspension with the Ford Racing package so that should be set.

I'm at 90K with my 2011. I'd recommend starting with the clutch, spark plugs, all fluids (diff, radiator, brake fluid, etc).

Yeah the clutch is gonna be something coming up soon. When they did the TSB for gear grind on my car they replaced the clutch at about 30k miles but I am hard on it too.

Fluids is a good call. It's been 4-5yrs since I did a coolant flush on the supercharger and changed transmission fluid.

Plugs I've been good on since modding. I change them every 5-10k miles. They're cheap and it's an easy way to see what's going on in the engine.

Are the plugs pretty easy to get at and replace?

Yup. Two bolts on each valve cover and the sparkplug cover comes off, then just a sparkplug socket and extension and youre in like flint. JLT said to use copper plugs and change em more often because boost chews up plugs so every oil change or two ill drop all of $10 for some new plugs and pop em in. Just be sure you get the gasket on the spark plug cover set right over the wire for the COP’s. Thats what keeps water and dirt out of there.

Mine sports the first gen1 tvs with 18#’s, headers, mono, etc...I keep the iats cool and 93 shell only. I shift at 6500rpm almost everytime I drive it and just rolled 80,xxx miles.
Maintenance plays a big part because the only thing I’ve “had” to replace was the clutch and that wasn’t due to wear. Keep those fluids clean, fresh plugs, and it should last awhile.

You preach the truth! Stay on top of things and your golden. I just worry about what things I didn't think to stay on top of!

Great, thanks. Was thinking throttle body/air plenum might have to be removed to get at the plugs on the one side. Glad that isn't necessary. My car has a custom tune, and I'm betting it has the 1 degree cooler NGK's on it that are typically installed, so I'll probably just throw another set of those in as insurance. Car only has 15K miles on it (about 11K on the plugs installed when it was Dyno tuned), so will be interested to see what the plugs look like.

The plenum will have to come off but its easy to pop on and off the throttle body.

Yup, i run same one step cooler NGK’s.
