Just watched The Grand Tourer Season 3 opener on Amazon. The Demon beats the 1,000bhp Camaro Hennesey Exorcists down the 1/4 mile. And more and more Demon owners with 100 octane are getting sub 10-second 1/4 passes. With Ford saying the GT500 us under 11 seconds, how do people feel? I love the GT500, but it seems like the Demon will still walk it in a straight line. Thoughts?

If I wanted a straight-line car from the factory that looks like a dated shoe box and handles like a 1970's Cadillac, I would certainly look into purchasing a Demon (My subjective opinion on looks).
If I'm looking for an all around performer I would consider the new GT500 or a Z06. And it just so happens both are on my list for consideration.
So, for me I don't personally care how fast a demon is compared to other cars in a straight line. I think it's a cool car and awesome that Dodge built such a drag oriented car with a warranty. And certainly if all I cared about was drag racing, then it may be "the" car to own for under $100K.
I think each car will draw a different audience; those who want to drag race and that's it, and those who want a more well rounded (better looking) performer.

The Demon is a purpose build drag car, and the GT500 is kinda of a jack of all traits which is unfortunate that it probably wont be the best at anything

Skinnies, Sticky tires, no passenger or back seat, race gas, vht for miles, and - da and you get a demon in the 9’s at high 130’s.

Drive a full weight, 315 front, 93 oct, GT500 to the track with little to no prep and you have 10.8 at 133.

Is there any difference in these scenerios?

I’ve asked you forever what does a demon run with full interior and full wide front tires on 93 oct. and you refuse to answer kaneda. Why is that? Is it because you won’t like the answer?

With the initial info so far from engineers per insider info stating that the GT500 is currently running 10.8x @ 133ish mph and currently working on more in stock form in full weight with 20s I wonder what would an optioned car for least amount of weight minus the back seat, passenger seat, bigs & littles on race gas with a tune of course but no other changes (just like the Demon), what would this thing run...

That's a great question honestly. I've always wanted to know the answer...

Love me some Demon. Loving Dodge more and more every day. GT500 will not be quite as fast in a straight line when compared to Demon, but it will be the best “driver’s” car available in the American muscle market.

500 is not meant to compete with Demon. It is going after sports cars / exotics now.

Hey Ford, if you are listening, why not get Ford Performance to work on a "race gas tune" that GT500 owners can use IF they choose to take it to the dragstrip and make a hero run in race trim...that way it would be a Ford Performance tune and haters can't use the "its aftermarket" excuses???

I kinda get that feeling too.

Doesn't the demon have to load a "race gas" tune that was supplied from the dodge performance division, I don't think demon owners consider that aftermarket, for off road use but still from dodge performance?

I thought it was kinda odd how the Demon pulled so hard on that camaro when hammond screwed the launch giving the camaro a head start. The physics of it did not add up

But it was built by hennesey so probably more like 600hp lol

I saw that and it makes no sense, a heavier car with less horsepower and messed up launch still pulled the camaro? I don’t see logic in that.

The Demon crate that comes with the Demon, shipped after purchase, contains:
  • a performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration
  • replacement switch module containing high-octane button
  • conical performance air filter
