Hello!

I´m the owner of a 1992 corvette, i know it´s no Ford but both companies used same tire sizes and we have the big problem, that in europe you can´t get any OEM tire sizes and so you must import it from USA. I´ve read many threads in your Forum about Goodyear, Nitto, Toyo ... and i hope you can help me.

I´m standing for the big problem to find new tires in OEM sizes 275/40R17 & 315/35R17 with the european certification proof mark "E" or "e" with a number for the proof Country (it´s like your DOT).
Summit Racing asked at Goodyear for the Eagle F1 GS-D3 and they answered to have no longer the Test E certification. Summit also have no alternative like Nitto or Mickey Thompson or somethig else.

Is there anybody who buyed tires in the last weeks whatever for a manufacturer or model with the E certificat on his tire?

Best regards
Juergen

I've already done this, but it's not so easy that somebody can answer this.

Thanks for all

For clarification are you referring to the ECE certification? I doubt any tires made in the US for the US market would ever have these markings.

Are you using the oem size, 275/40/17? You could probably use the Continental ExtremeContact Sport in that size. You should be able to find those in the EU.

Yes. I´m looking for tire models with the eurepean ECE certification.

Good year tolds Summit:"GS-D3 no longer have Test E certification"
One guy in the corvette forum shows me pictures from a mickey thompson street comp in 315/35R17 with E11 mark and the 275/40R17 have no mark (one tire was produced at the end of 2017 the other begin at 2018). It´s all a little oddish/curious. Was ended the ECE on tires with a certain date? Nobody knows this.

The last tires we get in europe was from vredestein or the toyo r888. Production terminated.

Today i also asked at Corvette Europe and the Austrian Technic license depatment for motor vehicle. I hope they have an idea or sollution.

At front yes. At rear 315/35R17 and there you have no chance to find it

indeed, you don't have many choices once you get to that size. I am running nitto 555 315/35/17 on the back of my SS on 17X11 FIKSE wheel. What about Toyo Proxes TQ series tire, any availability there?

We do have several overseas members that can hopefully respond with better info.

To buy the sizes in the US would be no problem.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Toyo Poxes TQ, R888R, HP2
Nitto NT05, NT05R, NT555G2, NT555R
Mickey Thompson Street Comp, ET S/S

I know the Drag radials would be not good for street using.

Understood, I suggested this as I've noticed many more European members on CF than SVTP

Maybe @Lemmiwinks can help. He's in the Netherlands.

Close, Sweden :)

Regarding the topic, I cannot shed any light on this.
And honestly, I haven't ever even thought about this. I've used several DOT tires (Like for example Mickey Thompson ET Street) without any issues.
We have car inspections every year and atleast here they never check the tires for anything else than the tread depth.
At this moment my T-bird sits on Mickey Thompson ET Streets, my Viper sits on Toyo R888's, my fathers Terminator sits on Nitto NT05R. Doubt atleast 2 of those tires have the certification you're searching for as neither Nitto nor Mickey Thompson are sold in Sweden or as of what I've found, Europe at all.

Why must you have the E certification?

It coukd be posiible that nobody will check if you've the E mark. But it's law that you MUST have it on your tire. Today the Austrian Technic License Department tells me another way: I need an OK from an european tire office that the choosen tire model with DOT license is like produced for the ECE E30 standard

I write to Goodyear Austria for the GS-D3 and hope to get a positiv answer.

I'm only half joking, get a branding/soldering iron with the letter E, brand the tire...I would imagine our DOT standards aren't that different from Europe's.

I'm with you. The same sune shines in USA & EU. I think the only reason is the money. The tire producer have to pay to get the DOT or ECE certification
