As some may know, I'm in the market for a foxbody mustang. Ideally, I'd like to wait until spring/summer because then traveling might be easier. But if the right one comes along I'll jump on it.

I'm looking for input. Basically with shipping and the whole transaction. I'm worried about getting scammed by a potential seller.

Currently there is one that I'm interested in. It's a crazy situation really. The guy that's selling it doesn't even have it yet. The car is in North Carolina and being shipped to New York. He said he should have it by tomorrow. Reason why he said he's selling? Because, 2 days after he purchased this 93, his old 91 stang was up for sale. So he bought that back, and can't keep both of them.

He sent me pictures from the previous owner, and said he'll get plenty more once he has it.

Sounds like a mess right? But if indeed this is legit, it's really what I've been looking for.

Has anyone heard of escrow.com? Basically it's a third party. They hold the funds until the car is delivered and both parties are happy.

Escrow.com | Never buy or sell online without using Escrow.com.

Please help me out!

Never buy a car without looking at it. 300 plane ticket is well worth the investment. Other people opinions on condition may not align with yours.... that's about the nicest way I can put it.

I agree, don't do it unless you can see it with your own eyes OR you have a close friend near where the car is located that you can completely trust to give you an accurate and fair report on it.

The car has been repainted it's factory electric red. This guy will be the third owner. Second owner is friends with original owner.

Sometimes it has to be done if it is a rare car....look at the back round of the pictures, does it make sense? Is it a junk yard? Ask for a front and back copy of the title.... ask for a front and back copy of their license ... ask for a video with the car running. Wire the money directly to their bank account , Names should match. Are they responsive to your calls ? If you can’t get them to respond to you before you send the money how can you expect them to respond after they have your money. Talk to them on the phone pay attention to what they say ....does it make sense?? Good luck to you

Looks like the front has a different color blended up half the hood and fender. Headlight is crooked against the outer piece. License plate area is hidden for a reason. I could care less about his buddy story about the first and second owner.

Aren't there mechanics that will go look at cars in this situation?

I bought my car sight unseen. Use a 3rd party inspector to check out the car and drive it. They will send you high resolution pics and let you know of any issues.

Disaster waiting to happen.

I'd rather waste a deposit, plane ticket, and time off work than get screwed on another car deal.

If everything is looking good then make final payment after an in person inspection.

Also, anything particular reason you want this specific car? I mean it seems like a clean car but nothing I would take a plane ride to look at. There are still a good amount of clean examples out there that I’m sure are closer to you than this car.

Guess I'm just getting the itch. I haven't seen many coupe's at all. I'll likely keep looking. Like many have said, it would be nice to see it in person.

Some stuff might not seem to line up perfectly. They removed everything when repainted. I'll likely keep looking if you guys don't think it's a good idea. I'll wait and see if he gets better pics and video.

Everyone wants top dollar now thanks to Barrett Jackson, that's fine but it better be in pristine condition. There's clean coupes out there you just have to keep looking
