After all the hype, who here is actually buying?

And there are probably 10,000 potential customers that want a DCT. With the amount of money spent to develop the DCT, Ford probably decided to only offer a DCT. 15,000 DCTs' is a very small production run, when you consider no one else is using that transmission.

Sell both, Porsche went pdk only then offered a manual again.

The purists and fans will support your brand through thick and thin, the independent buyer buys tech/value.

4/5 people buying the dct version are still slower around leguna seca with this car than Randy Phobst is with a 2012 boss 302LS guaranteed.

There’s a rewarding engagement of a manual, regardless of the speed or rate of speeding. My toaster? Yes make that as automated as possible, call it bender and feed it beer for all I care so long as it makes good toast. My car? For me that’s when I get to have some engaging fun.

I have more fun driving a manual no nannies Nissan 350z than I do piloting a Tesla p100d.

I as a 2nd hand buyer prop up the sales of a new car because I take part in helping keep the resale value strong. A first hand buyer is comfortable taking the 25-40% value hit. I step in and take it off their hands for a pretty high price compared to other 3-5 year old performance cars depreciation because I am a member of many specialty mustang buyers.

Break that connection to me and my demographic of 2nd hand buyers, and you can kiss your resale value goodby.

I didn’t buy a used 03 cobra over a used e46 M3 because I’m a stupid redneck that doesn’t appreciate European engineering. I deal with the buying crowd of those cars everyday at work. I could easily go the eurosnob route. I and many buy/bought used cobras and gt500’s because it’s what speaks to us, and was built listening to us. I speak with many when I say a mustang without a stick and traditional handbrake is a turn off.

Gt350 and bullitt resale values will not fall like gt500’s will, I guarantee it.

I just wish you could go into any Ford dealer and order the car; this whole dealer buying into the program to be allowed to sell them and assigning allotments is stupid AF.
Seriously, I agree 100%!!
I can walk into Chevy dealership and order a ZL1 the way that I want it. The same with a Z06 or Z07 car. Same for the Hellcat Challenger/Charger and Redeye cars.
I wish Ford did the same with the new GT500.

Been a while since my last post...been out of the GT500 game for a while.

I was just emailed what my dealer will sell his first one for (after being guaranteed an allocation three weeks ago). $10,000 over msrp...I bought my last GT500 from them and have had 4 total cobra/gt500's ('97, '04, '10, '14) over the years and never been charged more than a tad over invoice. I am the sales manager at a Nissan dealership so I know how this works. He said that price is the "market"...which I cant disagree with but even my "buddy" discount didn't work lol. They know what I do for a living and I even know the guys at the ford store...but the price will be the price, I guess. I have another alternative working at another dealer but thought I would share that the pricing IS GOING TO BE NASTY ON THESE cars when they come out...just watch out. I am a GT500 guy at heart even though I have a GTR and a Charger Hellcat right now...I hate that I wont get to get one due to the price. I love my cars...but I am not an idiot.

I just looked at a New 2019 Camaro ZL1 at the local dealership and it was $2875.00 below MSRP without any drama. The price was right on the window.

MSRP $68,585
Net Price $65,713

Gas guzzler tax $2,100.00 - Funny how they figure the gas guzzler tax is an option.
Transmission, 10-speed automatic $1,595.00
Hood insert, visible Carbon Fiber weave $600.00
Audio system, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system with connected Navigation, 8" diagonal HD color touchscreen, AM/FM stereo $495.00
Performance data and video recorder $1,300.00
Total Options $6,090.00

And if that didn't meet my specs I could order one and still get a discount.

At least I have options if I can't get a 2020 GT500 at MSRP.

The ZL1 is pretty damn badass. I wouldn't sweat it and you'll save money on haircuts.

I would buy it today if it had better visibility. It felt like I was sitting in a pill box.

That's a good price for a great car.

ZL1 is a bad a$$ ride, but I am not sure it makes a significant difference in the value you retain. Dealers in Houston offer ZL1's on autotrader 5k off MSRP, so look around. Also, there are several used ones '17, '18 around here for very low 50's. So you will have a good amount of depreciation right away.

The point is, regardless of ADM or below MSRP, as long as you got either at fair market, in a year, you will likely give back about the same depreciation and would be able to sell a GT500 a lot easier than a ZL1. Getting the Ford may still be a challenge, and might cost more to get into, but true cost to own??? Food for thought.

My only hang up with the ZL1 or Z06 is that tiny ass blower.

Drop the LT5 into and Camaro and all of a sudden I’m a buyer.

My hang up is they are just not as sexy as the GT350/GT500. Can't argue about the performance, arguably better, but the style, inside and out, not so much. And the noise, oh my god that amazing FPC sound.

So I pride myself on passing ZL1's on the track to prove my driving abilities and if one ever was to pass me, then I'm sure it's the car ;-) -just like GT3's.

I just got off the phone with dealer choice #2...the first dealer treated me like an idiot. I spoke to the GM and he actually explained his philosophy on the new GT500. His dealership (as do many others) never really get a "halo" car to really make money on. The first one WILL be $10,000 over sticker...no ifs ands or buts about it. I can have the 2nd or 3rd depending on the delivery of the first one and final allocation units. I appreciated the conversation with me about how the ADM for him works...I am the sales manager of a Nissan dealership so he and I could have a normal conversation about my purchase. The only bad part is the 2nd or 3rd GT500 wont even be ordered until late this year so maybe an early 1st quarter delivery to me in 2020. That's a long time to wait...but it will be my 5th cobra/GT500 and hopefully the wait wont disappoint.

Too bad, I would have bought one for sticker, no problem.
When does pricing come out anyways? Anyone hear anything about this?

I would imagine the 2nd and 3rd will hover around sticker...unless the first one sells immediately...then my price may go up a tad. He doesn't know any details on pricing and specs yet...he thinks early summer or late spring before final details. Could be sooner...that was part of the problem talking to him, he doesn't know much about the car....no one does.

Nobody knows anything. I expect the order guide to be out around May, but that is just my personal speculation.

Im betting they are waiting on the northeast dragstrips to open up, with their final revisions, to get some hard #s out there

I had the chance to see the GT500 in-person at the local auto show. I really disliked the front end. It looks a lot more narrow and tall in person plus I really disliked the black part at the centre of the bumper. The rest of the Mustang is great though. I had a deposit on a GT500 that I will switch to a Kona Blue GT350R when I speak to my dealer on Tuesday. I also feel for my goal of taking it to the road course often, the GT350R is a better choice anyhow.

I want to see if there is any discounts or special pricing for ford employees like myself. I will see =) Depending on price, I may get one. If so, there will be a 15,000 mile 03 cobra for sale that I never use anymore.

take that huge snake off the front and would make a world of difference. Just gotta spend some time plasti dipping it, or removing somehow. They really threw the bag at this thing. Wish they didn't put cobras or Shelby's or GT500 on it anyplace, but I realize why they do. One, one place would work
