Hey everyone,

I have the opportunity to buy a 2018 GT 350 with less than 5K miles for $54K. The car would be my DD.

1. Is this a good price for a 2018? I would try to lower it to maybe $52K
2. Would it be a good DD? My commute is 15 miles city driving, no highway.

The car is in So Cal and they lowered the price on their own from $60K to $54. I would really appreciate your opinions. Mind you I would be going from a Lexus is250 to the GT 350.

Thank you in advance. I am also open to other brands that would be fun as a DD. The reason for the upgrade is I feel the IS250 lacks in response when I give it gas and looking for a bit more power.

Great car, I’d offer 49,500 and hold tight for 2-3 months. They’ll call you

My daily was stickers at 40 in 2012. I offered 29,500. 3 months later and three refused offers, they said 29,900. I went for it.

To me the car is extremely versatile as far as DD cars go. The adjustable suspension and steering really is super nice for just about any road you encounter. My main problem with taking it anywhere without worries was how low the front splitter is. No way could i have lowered mine or upgraded to an R splitter and even used my own driveway.

I will also say that if you really really like torque(you mentioned zip) then there’s no way i could recommend you buying one without a lengthy test drive. You have to keep the RPM up high to feel any zip in one of these.

I put 12k miles on mine in a very short time, while my jeep and bike collected dust. It was not meant to be a DD for me, but quickly became my preferred transportation.

I wouldn't buy one as a daily driver personally. These cars are good tech, but I don't think you are buying a workhorse motor like the 5.0 or 5.4. It's not a slight, just an observation.

If I lived in CA with a short commute he’ll yeah I’d DD a GT350. Are you considering other cars as well? You could have similar fun for less money with a Boss 302 or a Challenger Scat Pack.

I am looking at other models as well, but this GT 350 came up on my search and I have been checking in on the price(which they have lowered twice in two weeks). I will definitely check out the Boss 302. I am not too familiar with the challenger, but I do notice a lot of challengers here in So Cal. Another factor is the comfort and room inside, being 6'4 I do not want to keep hitting my head on the car roof, lol.

I already have a 5.4 Harley Davidson SC truck and just looking for another dependable motor for my DD commute.

Guess I should’ve mentioned my motor was replaced at 11k, the voodoo lives up to it’s name IMO.

My 350R is my DD. Haven't had any reliability issues and the car is a blast to drive. You do have to be cautious with the front splitter as it will scrape, but you'll adjust quickly and it's not a huge deal.

I daily my 18 350 and love it. I’ve had it 2 months now and it’s proven to be a good commute car for me. I have other cars to drive and regularly choose the 350. I would recommend a lengthy test drive as well due to the lack of low end kick to make sure you can live with it.

Why was it replaced? Are these motors just going dry from oil starvation?
It was using a quart every 350 miles and getting worse every time I checked it.

Ford didn't hesitate in replacing it, so that's a plus.

Now having a camaro, I do miss that a simple resonator delete gives you 9/10ths the volume you'll ever need and it can be quieted down at the flip of a switch. I just spent 2k on a freakin catback just so I can hear the damn thing.

You may want to consider the Challenger - plenty of room. I'm 6'1" and my head will the roof on a large bump.

Is it dealer or PP? You probably already know this, but if PP be careful of any lien holders or the notorious AND vs. OR multiple title holders in Cali. That price almost sounds too good to be true.

These questions always baffle me. It depends on you. What are you requirements for a daily driver? Do you have kids? Do you haul around a lot of stuff usually and gear that you need? Do you have to transport others for lunch trips and what not? Do you spend a lot of time in bumper to bumper conditions or in red light to red light driving? Daily Driver questions are 1000% individualized.

It beats walking. In terms of utility it's on the bottom of the scale.

My first vehicle out of college was a Jeep Wrangler and although it's a fun secondary vehicle, as a primary vehicle it blows. It was small, no space, terrible mileage, had to schedule on a calendar when to pass people, noisy, etc, etc. Did it beat walking or riding the bus? Sure.

As far as the price, for a newish 2018 with 5k on it, I'd say $54k is a great price. I personally couldn't ONLY own a stick shift 2 door coupe as my only vehicle, regardless of how fast or appealing it is. But as I said, everyone is different.

Will do research.

I would get a used A8 Hellcat Challenger or Charger for under 50k.
A8 would be something new for me and I would want something I can fix myself.

This is a dealer not a PP, I am not worried about the lien since the previous owner traded in the car.

I don't have kids and my only gear is my bag with the laptop and its red light to red light light traffic with some highway driving if I take that route. I am usually the lunch driver but it would stop if I go to a two door car specially a GT350. As far as requirements, room, dependable and more zip than my IS250.

Think of it this way, only you can decide if the utility (or lackthereof) is worth the upside of dailying a 350. If someone asked me "can you daily drive a motorcycle" my response would be sure. If you're willing to deal with all the pro's and con's of it. I personally could not. But each person has different priorities and needs and desires.

I think you'll find a tremendous difference between an IS and a GT350 in terms of utility and ease of use.

Bumper to Bumper and stoplight driving in the 350 can be miserable. Getting in and out of the thing is a pain in the ass (wear and tear on the alcantara). Mileage on the highway isn't bad, but real mileage depending on how much you keep your foot in it can be bad to downright awful. Getting in and around parking garages and ramps stresses me out. Parking stresses me out (I'm not the only one who has to try to park WAY away from everyone or find the biggest open spot to avoid idiots and their door dings). The infotainment system is only adequate (I'm certain a step down from your IS depending on how old it is). I can't do conference calls or important calls in my 350. ANYWHERE.

I'd say on a scale of 0-100, higher being better, the GT350 is at like a 20 in terms of utility, comfort, ease, etc.

Couple of guys wanted to setup a cruise from Miami to Key West and my thoughts are "hell no." What a miserable drive in 45 mph the whole way with 100 stop lights for 3 hours.

The only way I'd daily a mustang at this point is if it was an automatic, something I didn't stress over scraping the front end or getting it scratched, or being too loud to talk on the phone, etc, etc.

Thank you everyone for the input. Will definitely start to test drive some cars and see what I like.
