Sorry but I don't see a 2bolt Iron block built to handle 1600hp 11years ago.. Unless you have a billet crank, and billet rods.. and a lot of block prep.. Hell 11yrs ago I don't think they even had ARP2000 headstuds for the Modular cars.. I could be wrong.. Something to think about though.

You're correct on the FGT heads, they are bad ass and require a lot of work to work on a Cobra. Worth it in the end though..

As you get higher and higher into the HP realm I would HIGHLY recommend a stand alone ECU.. Best of luck looking forward to seeing more progress.

I was thinking the same thing, even an iron block built to handle 1600rw today is incredibly impressive, assuming you want it to last more than a handful of passes / a season.

^^ Yea exactly..

Hell I know of a car with a Accufab built engine, with a worked over Teksid and lots of prep work into that block.. That engine is only rated at 1300hp, and that's built by Mihovetz himself.. Recently for that matter.

Damn that must be an incredible engine. If your not filling the blocks and things like that, they simply can't withstand abuse in the realm of 1600-2000+ like Mihovetz is running. There really aren't many blocks in the world that take 1500+ rwhp. I would say the 2Jz might be the best. The GTR's and TTG's are obviously pushing stupid power too, so I guess it's fair to put them up there in ranking. Also I'm talking about something that is driven on the street and not a pure all out drag car, obviously there are cars making 2000-3000HP, but I'm not really counting those being that they are custom everything

Also, from what I've heard, mihovetz won't actually build anything for others, maybe it was prepped by Al papito or sean hyland, which I think are the two guys he recommends.

I think if you know him he'll do it. I had a guy buy a couple of timing covers off of me and his had a sand rail with an engine built by Mihovetz. But in talking to him it sounded like they were a little more than passing acquaintances.

And the engine in the rail was "turned down" to 1200hp. Crazy.

Both of those shops have kind of faded. Al had an issue of people getting screwed out of money and SHM has a lot of his work passed though he was a pioneer. MPR, Livernois, LM are all places I would be ok with taking my motor too. Also I had mine built by Siebert Performance here in Kansas but he isn't as well known for mod motors as he is LS but he is an incredible builder and sticks to deadlines.

After a year it was finally started. Now has to be moved two bays over to the lift to get the cooling system run and swapping the DFX out for a DYAD.

Killer project man ! Can I ask what brand hood that is ? 2.5 inch cobra r ? H.O fibertrends?

Thanks it is just the normal Cervini's 3" hood. The car next to the Cobra has the same hood but is shorter in the Cervini's 2.5".

Finally got back too it. After going through many air filters I got one to fit that I liked Not my favorite setup but the flow on it is great. I did not have enough time to make a heat shield or box. Will probably be my next step:

All the ones I tried:

I did this on an extra headlight. We will see if I keep it:

I feel sorry for any small birds that accidentally fly in front of your car when it's running.
