Cobra R Exhaust

They quit making both. And are impossible to find. I searched and searched. Spintech can make a custom kit for you. I had a kit made to go with Bruces intake kit and tune. I had to have the kit fit to the car at a custom exhaust shop which cost almost as much as the kit. Not many shops here in WA tig stainless.
The car is much louder. I did the intake and exhaust at the same time; it was a noticable performance boost.
All said, I would do it again. Plus I have all of the stock stuff so the car can be returned to its stock form in an afternoon.

You will have to have one made. Im planing on getting a bassani x pipe(no cats) and having it modded at a local hot rod shop.

Could have one for sale (Bassani X pipe, and Cat Back)at some point, what is it worth? I am switching to headers and 3" exhaust. It would not be for a while.

I am wanting to buy a X or a H pipe for my 2000 cobra R. Does anyone know of one that is for sale or is there a company that makes them. Thanks:shrug:

I installed a magnaflow 93335 on a 2000R.

The magnaflow 93335 is a dual hi flow catted x pipe for the 99-04 cobras.

The total length is the same as the factory one.

You do have to modify it to make it fit.

1. Enlarge the left manifold flange bolt holes.

2. Move the rear O2 sensor location to on top of the pipe or plug the holes and eliminate the rear O2 sensors(tune needed).

3. Slide the trans crossmember forward so it clears the X in the pipe.

4. Add 2 hanger hooks to the pipe just before the X in the pipe.

An H pipe might fit better?

Because the magnaflow "fit", I would think any brand X or H, catted or catless, pipe for 99-04 cobra would bolt in with some sort of modifications.

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Do you have any pictures of the setup/modifications? I'm looking to get a bit more growl out of my R and ran across this post of yours. I'm thinking about going this route and/or a custom setup to avoid having to find the infamous Bassani kits.

Sorry, I don't have any pics.

Sorry, I don't have any pics.

Couple of Q's for you then.
- Does the trans crossmember slide forward without any modifications to the car? I am not looking to remove, drill or change anything physically on the car.

- Would you say the aftermarket catted xpipe added any growl/sound to the car by itself? The stock exhaust is much to quiet for me and I want to do something about it. In other mustangs the x-pipe provides a sound improvement, but typically not too much. When combined with a catback they truly change. At the end of the day I'm curious if the best use of my time is to focus on the side exhaust or mid-pipe.

The cross member brackets had to be moved forward on the subframe. I had to drill a new mounting hole.

The catback exhaust is the biggest sound killer.

Found a Pic. The Cat back was custom made with a magnaflow muffler at a local exhaust shop.
