hauling e85 in 55 gallon drum

is it legal to haul 55 gallon drum of e85 in back of a pickup.....was thinking if I have to travel maybe I could haul 2?

2 is legal- I was told by a fuel company I could only haul 2 legally has to be under 1000 pounds of fuel- which 2 drums is less than 800- your state could have different laws and tunnels and bridges also have certain restrictions.

Yes sir you can just keep it under a 1000 pounds anything more then that would require you be be plackerd.

It varies from state to state. You cannot carry more than 21 gallons of fuel in MA without a permit.

where did you find that info for mass?
it was posted on some Mass firefighting website. fire code *527 CMR 8.2* "gasoline or other flammable petroleum products may be transported without a permit in any open vehicle or compartment of a closed vehicle not to exceed 21 gallons"

I spoke with a mass state trooper in the truck division and said under 119 gallon will be fine....going into boston tonite to get fuel for the race season

I've hauled a 55 gal drum lots of times with out ever a thought. If you have to worry about stuff like this, its a sign your govt has gotten to big and too powerful.
