Hey guys,

I’m about to order a tuner and a or/x for my car. What tuner is best for our cars? Back in my terminator days the sct x3 was king, nowadays I have no clue what to get. I see the BDX and x4 and also the N Guage. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Jay

I have an X3 and a Lund nGauge. The nGauge is mountable and you can customize the display to show a whole assortment of data. I haven't loaded any tunes from my nGauge yet, but it has the same functionality as the X3/X4. Also with the nGauge you can log data and then view it on your computer. The only thing about the nGauge is you can only load Lund tunes. VMP has their own version of the nGauge but I'm not familiar with it.

I’m still running an old school X3, but if I had to buy a new one, the nGauge hands down. The ability to datalog without having to hook a laptop up makes it the clear winner for me.

FWIW, I'm happy with my nGauge. It is, however, my first and only tuner, so I can't say how it compares to other options.

Thank y’all so much. I’ll be ordering a N guage tomorrow. If it’ll data log without a lap top plugged in I’m sold. I’m good with it being tuner specific because I plan to use Lund anyway. I’ve been through some horrible tuners in my day and Lund is leaps and bounds better than anyone that’s ever touched my cars.

Again, thanks guys!

You can definitely datalog with an nGauge alone. You can also install it "permanently" and use it to monitor a many parameters available via ODBII. When coupled with the ability to hold/load tunes, it's a very versatile package.

I know you're going with Lund, but note that you don't have to. nGauges are available from other tuners, in addition to Lund. (Mine came from my local tuner, here in CO.)

Good luck!

Yea that’s definitely the way I’m going. I see your in Colorado Springs, I’m actually just north of Denver right now working. I’m about 1h45m away from you. Who tunes your car here?

You missed a great Detail Clinic at Adam's Polishes in Thornton on Saturday. (Pics available at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.2133458903387734). How long will you be in the area?

I have a SCT X4, which I got for my last car, so use it now.
My biggest issue with any of these, is the OBD port location. When the tuner is plugged in and driving, my clutch leg keeps hitting the tuning device plug. Also worried I'm going to snap it off.
If they could move the location just alittle.

Yeah, I really wish they would have put on a 90 degree OBD connector.

Curious as to where you heard about the Adam's Polishes Clinic? Was it on their website or something? I just moved to CO last June so I'm still learning all about the car scene here lol. Dont mean to hijack the therad but good look out on the shop recommendation. Just picked up a 14 GT500 with just over 10K miles.

Welcome to the Shelby family!

I organized the Clinic, so I actually knew about it before it was "real." Details were published in several places including SVTP's (regional) West Forum, FordGT500's (regional) South Western Forum, Team Shelby's Mountain Region Forum, Adam's Upcoming Events & Gathering Forum, Colorado Shelby Club's (CSC) Facebook page (cross-posted to Adam's Polishes Community Facebook page), and CSC's Calendar of Events.

There are a lot car events (e.g., Cars & Coffee, shows, cruises, races, etc) here in CO, at least during the summer months. Feel free to drop me a PM with any questions you may have.
