Having used their product for years, I've noticed that customer support has always been lacking, they tend to only favor large purchasers of the product (Lund...), and they promise features to buyers only for those buyers to discover the advertised features don't exist yet (BT via MPVI2...).

I just got done reading a thread in their forum telling a guy his CSV file was corrupted when he couldn't open it in VCM Scanner. A CSV file. It's a damn text file. If it can be opened with any text processor program, it isn't "corrupted". (I easily replicated his issue....where I discovered this blatant lie).

The software claims to be able to open CSV files, but it requires a specific formatted CSV file and not only does HPT not tell their clients this, they don't provide any instructions on properly formatting a CSV file.

HPT used to be the hero of the little guy when it came to tuning, but it looks like they are deliberately hindering use of the product by small volume tuners to support the large volume tuners.

“Did you create a ticket?” Sorry couldn't resist!

I recently purchased the mpvi2 pro a couple months ago. A lot of friends recommended hp tuners to me that have been using it for probably 10 years now. After initial guidance from friends (hp tuners comes with no general or basic instructions) I’m Finally comfortable making simple adjustments to my tune. I’m no professional by any means and have been doing tons of research on calibrating/tuning. I can say I do like it but at the same time, without having some knowledgeable people giving me pointers, this thing would have been returned or for sale a week after I got it. It isn’t that I don’t understand that the company doesn’t teach you to tune, I get that. It’s the lack of support that has really surprised me. There are zero basic help features. No search function. Their responses to Joe Blow no name on the forums is also a bit snarky and they give zero detail.

I do, however, like the Bluetooth datalogging. The mpvi2 is small and doesn’t get in the way of my big feet lol. I understood there was supposed to be a release for BT flashing of the pcm? I don’t know that I would use it though for fear of a lost signal and bricked pcm. I would however like the stand alone datalogging feature that has been advertised since last year. Still no eta for its release. I don’t bother asking on the forum, seems like you’re bothering them whenever it’s asked about.

My ratings for them, as a new customer would be something like...

Customer support- 4/10
Product Quality-7.5/10 with the exception of that goofy looking “pro-link” cable, which I give a 3 since it looks like something I’d piece together from stuff from Best Buy and radio shack.
Ease of use-5/10
General instructions- 0/10 seeing as there aren’t any

I had a bad experience with them, it’s a long story. Bottom line is never trust a company that won’t list a phone number !

Not a surprise. Company starts to get bigger now only wants to support those that pay the most money.

I've never really used hpt in a tuning capacity before as I have my own proprietary stuff I use for everything I tune. I do have an hpt interface tho and have used it on a couple dodges for minor changes with no problems. Im probably not the norm here as I knew exactly what I was going to do so it was a quick and easy in and out ordeal. I'm really surprised though that there are so many that dislike it. This is the first Ive heard of this. Its always seemed to me like most people are on their knees suckin hp off for reasons that escape me. I can't really say anything bad about them except the software layout and I don't agree. I spend more time looking for stuff than actually making changes. I suppose im fond of my tree view that almost all other tuning software uses. Tunerpro, eec editor, be, sct, sniper, diablo even caledit to a much lesser extent partially. I am a member on their forum and pop in every time and again to help out. @JBN hit the nail on the head with the ticket thing I see that posted quite often lol.

I won an MPVI2 at pri last year. I have yet to actually use it though so can't comment on it.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our customer service. We try to provide the best possible support however with our current support team assistance over the phone is not something we can offer. Tickets help keep things organized and allow us to look at files and find the problem which cannot be done instantly over the phone. They get handled in the order they are received, and there is no favoring of large shops or individuals. With the resources we have we will do everything we can to help you.

If you would like to provide the link to the forum post regarding the corrupt CSV File we can look into it further and give you some feedback.

When announcing features of our device we try to be very clear regarding what is available and what will be available in the future. As a growing company there are many tasks that get prioritized which makes it difficult to give ETA's and try to predict when something may be ready.

We realize that there is a shortage of instructions and directions from our end, and it is something that we are working on fixing. It is a long process and we hope to be able to better assist you in the future.

I found HP tuners to be very complicated compared to Diablo Sports. I realize they are not the same and I'm comparing apples to oranges but I wish HP tuners could make it a little easier for the average user. I'm been in the I.T. Field for 25 years and worked on car since I was 12 years old. Things need to be kept simple.
