Hi!

I currently have the Original Hoodpins and 2007 supersnake hood installed, unfortunately the
hoodpins are illegal here In Germany. I must replace them with something like Quik-Latch.

Before I order I would ask if anybody knows wich ones/models are the most perfect fit, when it comes to length and size.

Thanks in advance!

Aerocatch are the way to go. I've had them on a few vehicles. They work and look great.

I had aerocatch latches on one of my cars a few years ago. Never liked how they worked and to me they are more of a ricer latch. I have quik-latch hood pins on my car how any they are great.

Hey guys.

I will go with the Aerocatch, since all the people who try to get me to sell them the car now or later likes them the most.

Wich model would be the right one?

Thanks

I also prefer the quick latch to the aerocatch.
If you can wait, the new 2020 GT500 has what appears to be a form of quik latch in OEM form. I’d personally try to run those.

i have a set of the big quick latches in my supersnake hood.... it is fiberglass. I have spider cracking around both of them after being mounted to the hood for over a year. I dont know how you would avoid this i really like the way they look but the fiberglass portion of the hood where they mount isnt really all that thick. Ive been trying to see if the area could be reinforced somehow.

Good points. It can be done, but may not be easy. I’m looking to see how Ford did this on an OEM application like the 2020 GT500.
I’ll be purchasing my first CF hood for my LX project car and would like to use the mini quik latches.

I have the bigger quick latch, also have fine spider cracks in the paint right around the latch, they do the job and hood doesn't move period at speed.

HI.

I went with the Q-latch since they look more like original ones.
The decals are there to cover up differences in paint color because the hood keeps cracking in the middle.

Thanks

I had not had any issues with hood cracking on my 2008 Super Snake.

I know these would not work in Germany either, but I have liked them since the day I installed them (everyone at Shelby said they wouldn't fit the Super Snake hood contour???)......

I bought a trufiber fiberglass hood in the fall last year and have been trying to figure this out myself as well.
I originally wanted to use aero catch but was concerned they would not sit flat as the hoods curved in both directions.
I ended up putting in 70s style pins and am not a fan. I just went to the local race shop after picking the car up from storage and was going to get the aero catches, they said the surface mount ones are not recommended for fiberglass or carbon fiber hoods? He said I could use the flush mount ones and they had to be glued in from underneath? At that point I started to look at the quick latches and really liked how small they are.
I purchased the 38 sized ones.
What I don't get is if I keep my stock latch in place how do I open my hood? Im guessing undo the quick latches first (flexing the hood?) And then do the stock latch.

At a car show, or when I get home and open the hood to let the heat out, I first have to get out of the car and remove the lanyard pins and then reach in the car to pull the hood release. I think it is that way with any of these types of hood hold downs.

Of course with the old cars it was simply undoing the hood pins or twist locks and reaching up under the hood and pulling or sliding the hood latch release..............In todays world, the hood release is inside the car, not above the grill.

I have seem several installations of the Shelby billet hood pin plates on a GT500 hood that did not go so well, one example shown below......

^^^Yes the Shelby billet domed plates are cool looking and look better than the flat stainless plate that is normally installed, but if they are not adjusted properly, they don't look right. The main pin is attached to radiator core support "straight up" and the hood angles so the main pin is not centered in the domed plate.

Below is how they "should" look......The main pin is in the center of the plate and the lanyard pin should fit evenly in the channel of the domed plate........

^^^I think this may have been what Shelby did not figure out and why they stayed with the flat stainless plates on the production 2007-2009 Super Snakes.

The first time that I every saw the billet pin plates installed on a Super Snake hood (after Shelby said they would not fit/work), was on this 2007. Tasca had installed them after they did the Super Snake upgrade to this car......
