Anyone else have one of these belts and having trouble with noise? This is the second summer I have ran it and halfway through this season it started making a chirping noise on cold start that would go away as everything came up to temp. Initially it didn't last long so it wasn't a big deal but now I'm having to drive quiet a ways before it comes out of it. It's faster and louder with RPM and is really annoying! I have changed all my idlers out and removed my Metco tensioner and the noise is still present. Because it does eventually go away I'm sure its the belt. My question is whats the fix? When these belts are around $100 I don't really want to replace them too often.

I've had a blue belt start chirping. Pretty much as you described it. I'm on a second blue belt now and I'm starting to get a hint of chirping. I've saw a post where people were having belt squeaking issues and they re torqued their crank bolts and it resolved the issue.

I had chirping with the Metco set up. Running VMP 90mm idler now, no issues.

Mines doing it with the gates green belt. Chirps on cold start up then goes away after a few minutes. Three different belts and all of them do it. Never had a problem until this summer.

I had this issue and retorqed my crank bolt. Chirping hasn't come back and it has been almost a year.

Forgot to mention, i have a 10% lower. Never had this issue with the stock lower.

I have an ATI 10% lower also I will take a look and make sure they are tight. Thanks

I thought it might be my metco auxiliary idler at first but the noise is the same weather it is on or completely removed so I can rule that out.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I've just been living with the cold chirp. I got the car out today for the first time this season and I've decided I need to do something about it. My belt is currently the Gates Blue K100853RB. I didn't see that I can get that one anymore but online it looked like k100852HD could be a suitable replacement belt for me. Does this sound right or does anyone have any other suggestions? I have a TVS with 2.6 upper, 10% lower, and Metco idler. Everything else seems to be in proper order on the car and VMP told me it was the belt and they tend to make a little noise with age with the aftermarket pulleys.

HD should be the green correct?
How many miles/seasons on the current blue.
With big power and drag racing in my case, I feel drag radials and a blower belt will be yearly consumables :)

The 85.2 is the one i use. I went through 3 green belts before i got fed up and switched supercharger pullies. Went from a stock look 2.6 to a metco 2.6. Belt hasn't made noise since. I'm wondering if the tooth shape of the stock look pulley was eating up the belts.

I think this is my 4th or 5th season? It has about 10k miles of mostly just street use on it. The bel started making the noise halfway into my second season and has gotten a little worse with time. Im not positive on my belt options. There is a belt that is the same part number without the HD that says green stripe on it but the HD belt also says green stripe on it.

Im using the VMP quick change pulley setup with their 2.6 upper currently.
