This is the long-rumored (U.S. market) Jeep Wrangler 3.0L EcoDiesel.

Caught while testing in Auburn Hills, Michigan, the Jeep Wrangler 3.0L EcoDiesel is finally becoming a reality. According to Jeep, only the Wrangler Unlimited models will offer the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 as a powertrain option. The updated version of the 3.0L EcoDiesel will be rated at around 260 hp and 442 lb.-ft of torque. It will also feature Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology on all EcoDiesel models. Power will be mated to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission.

According to MoparInsiders, “The updated EcoDiesel will implement new turbocharger technology featuring a low-friction bearing, which is designed for low-end and transient performance. Low-friction pistons will also help improve fuel economy, while a new injector nozzle design, piston bowl and glow plug with integrated combustion pressure sensor help to optimize combustion.”

Expect an official debut in the coming months, with an on-sale date sometime in November.

Very nice. But new jeeps now a days are way beyond what i can afford, unless one of my businesses explodes and can pay for it. A buddy of mine just dropped 54k for a brand new custom ordered one. No way i can afford that!

I like my TJ. Haven't had a car payment in almost,10 years.

Oh great, stop/start "feature."

The rock crawling guys are gonna love that one, regardless of whether you can turn it off after each start.

Wow!

Just as I was seriously thinking about making more bad decisions in the form of a 2019 ZR2 diesel Colorado.

Hmmm

I thought Chrysler was having issues with those 3.0s. So much that they stopped putting them in the trucks, is that not the case?

I think they had some normal teething issues, but nothing out of the norm for a model diesel engine.

They had emissions issues and got their hand slapped by the EPA, similar to VW. All is fixed now.

As someone who currently daily drives a Z71 Colorado with the 2.8L Duramax, i can say without a doubt its not a bad decision. 20+mpg is easily achieved on daily basis. Tows 7000+lbs like its nothing. Fits 4 adults with room to spare. Plenty of power and torque. Renaissance truck for sure.

Cant find a single reason why it wouldnt be an amazing decision on your part. You even get the cooler ZR2 stuff than my Z71(lockers, bumper, hood, suspension and wheels/tires). If you could swing it, the ZR2 Bison is seriously offroad worthy.

What would be great is a 4 cylinder diesel in the Ranger.

I havent driven a totted up Ranger but the rental one i had was abysmal. I gotta get behind the wheel of the FX4 model and see how it compares to my Z71 fit and finish wise.

Or they could just bring the freaking Ranger Raptor here and change my mind completely. So far though Chevy wins in my book with the ZR2.

All the reviews are awesome on the zr2 and baby duramax. The DSSV shocks on the off road application are amazing from what everyone is saying.
