Hello guys, I was on this forum back in 2007 when I had a 99 Lightning. I forgot my user name therefore I wanted to briefly introduce myself. I have constantly scanned these forums for the last several years hoping one day I would purchase another Lightning. Fast forward to about two weeks ago, I was driving through my small town when I saw a sn95 cobra sitting on the side of the road for sale. I knew the adult in my should have continued down the road but I couldn’t resist, I had to turn around to stop and take a look. To my surprise it was a 96 black on black coupe with 41,500 miles original miles. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, the inner child I mr was jumping up and down. I began to crawl under it and was astonished how clean the underside was (very uncommon in the northeast). I got talking the owner and he informed me that he bought it off the original owner approximately two years ago. The original owner garage kept it from new until the current owner purchased it. The car is most stock with the exception of what I believe is a Steeda CAI, flowermaster catback and some sort of short throw shifter. To further sweeten the deal the original window sticker and SVT certificate was included.! The owner gave me a quick test ride and the child in me couldn’t resist but to negotiate a deal. The first thing on my agenda is to get this paint squared away. I am very picky and this black paint needs hours and hours of correcting to bring it up to my standard. I am going to correct the paint next week (going to take me a couple days). I will have pictures in the near future. Sorry for the long rant, I just wanted to introduce myself.

Congrats! Post pics! NJ native here but stationed overseas with the USAF right now. Definitely know what NJ winters can do to these cars but glad you found a survivor. If you need it tuned or subframes put in or whatever get ahold of Kevin at Wicked in Toms River.

Welcome back and congratulations. It's going to be a world different after the paint correction. You should post some before and after photos.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have been slowly correcting each panel as I’ve had time. I started with Meguiars 105 and followed up with Meguiars 205. I am unsure on what route I want to take to seal the paint. I tend to think that wax’s look better and give the paint a deeper look especially on black. The car is not going to be a daily driver so I don’t think there’s a need to ceramic coat it. I will make a decision shortly. Again guys this is a slow process and I will post pics soon.

I am going to be posting the car up for sale soon if anyone is interested. The car runs great but I have not used it nearly as much as I would like. If you would like to contact me in regards to the car email me for the quickest response.

Thanks for the reply. Pictures do not do the paint justice. I am happy with the results. It looks much better in person. I wish I had a real camera to take quality pictures.

Paint looks great!

It's been a long time since I've seen one of these cars with the factory coil springs still installed. The wheel gap is nuts...
