I'm in NY too and don't have a front plate. Thankfully, the bumper was never drilled for it.

I haven't had an issue with it in the 10+ years I've had the car but I also don't drive it all that much so the odds of getting hit for it are lower.

There is a d bag on Facebook that rips on everyone that posts a picture of their cobra if it has a front plate.

His simple reply is front plate=totaled.

I called him out on it. Some of us it's required by law. His cobra only has a Eaton. I said my front plated cobra will eat your non plated cobra.

Then he started getting mad calling me a bitch and said I must feel tough because I have a beard, lol.

I don't like them either, but law enforcement in this small town will pull me over every single time.

Wisconsin requires them but I’ll never put it on. If I get pulled over it’s on me. I just hate the fact that some states do and some don’t. I would think it would all be the same.

Don't they still have the no drill brackets for front plates? I use to have them on one of my Mustangs.

Don't need the front plate here in MI but mine has it because it was an Ohio car. I didn't like it, but I wanted the car. I have enough road rash on my bumper that warrants just replacing it, so that's the plan... That plan is also about 5 years old...

I purchased car from guy in PA....I'm in NH. I had to get the car inspected as soon as I got it and really wasnt savvy enough about drill less plate holders etc. I went and had it drilled. Biggest regret. Before pics with plate and recent pic post detailing. Changes the whole look of the car.

I was lucky enough to prep my Cobra for sale before I bought it new and I didn't install the front plate bracket.

Seeing how you're from WI. when you're on the interstate check out how many vehicles don't have a front plate, you'll be surprised.

Don’t start with wet sanding. If you have sticky tape residue, start with this... it’s magic. Spray into cap and brush on. It quickly gets rid of sticky tape and doesn’t hurt the paint:

Klean Strip | Aircraft® Decal & Adhesive Remover

If there is just an outline (no residue), start with compounds and a DA polisher with a correcting pad. Most issues get resolved with compounds. Wet sanding is for tough stuff and only as minimally necessary.

thanks goose, first I though we was having some kind conflict, because of what i say about the cobra R, or my english. But more and more i start to think you the nicest guy on here :) , you really have patient with me, i do ask some question that have nothing to do with performing, like how to prevent flat spot if i park too long. and you gave me some good advice. My real name is King btw.

also I want to tell you about the oil filter motorcraft FL820s, its been few years since many told me about the quality issue it having, like tear media, having a big hole on media area. where dirty oil can pass thru it. well i ignore it for many years, and i finally cut open 3 random FL820s, sure enought its having big hole and tear media on it. I know you like to keep all OEM part as possible.

the bad thing is I just change my cobra oil with FL820s oil filter and its only 20 miles on it. im thinking switch to different oil filter for now. and I dont know what to use, I been using motorcraft FL820s my whole life and all my vehicles are ford, so they all using motorcraft, i havent try any other brand yet.

Yes . It’s defective from the factory . It took me few years to believe it myself . That why I save all my motorcraft oil filter after I change . Hope some day I cut it open to see it myself . Few years pass and I finally convince myself to cut it open . Sure enough it’s true I would not use it for now . Now idk what to use.

Hello King!

Thanks for the kind words. We are getting off topic here, but this is the 1st I’ve heard of issues with the 820 filter. I have them on my Cobras, but they don’t get driven much. I’ve used Wix filters on some of my other vehicles. They are good from what I’ve read.

I live in Florida and we don't require a front plate, but the person I bought the car from had a front plate. So I just put this on, and I haven't taken off the cover to see the holes in the bumper yet. But maybe soon I will an just out the plugs

My issue isnt with the screw/drill holes but that monstrous plastic plate holder. I painted some plugs and took care of the holes but that plate holder chewed the heck out of the paint, cannot be fixed without sanding and a respray. If you have one do yoursef a favor and dont look, just leave it on. That which has been seen cannot be unseen, still drives me bonkers every time I detail all these years later.
