What are the specs? Wider ain’t always better, but compound is. I’d recommend Nitto DRs or Toyo R888s for a street car.
-I
20x11 in the rear. And toyo doesnt make a 20 in the r888s. So that's not an option. Michelin cup 2s will have to do for now. And I've driven a street car with DRs. That wont be happening again any time soon.

All clean and ready for someone to drive it...

Also, 1600x1600 =/= 9.8mb.

Pretty sure @O.W. Kenobeno is happy with R888R in a 20" diameter...
Yes, they make the race compound r888r in 20s, but not the street tire. With how much daily driving I do, I'd burn those up in about 2 months. I'd love to have the traction, but the poor water handling and short life, and also noise complaints, makes me stay away from the r version.

I don’t feel any non R compound tire is a great idea if you want to use the power you have. The tread life on my 555Rs has been fine on my Hellcat and previous Cobras, as has been the NT05R on the Shelby.
Cup 2s won’t be much different. I’ve never seen street guys complain about choosing the Toyos, other than cost and possibly noise.
My 315 NT05Rs on 20x11s fit great and handle turns well for a DR
Personally no way I’d choose the Cup 2s based on wear and cost unless you plan on really aggressive twistys or auto X and in which case the Toyo wins there too.
Ask @COOL COBRA about his Toyos for the same plans as you have.
315/30/20s?

I have no doubt that the cup 2s wont hook as well as the toyos. But they will certainly give up the win to the cup 2s when considering I daily the car. I'd have to put 3 or more sets of toyos on in a season considering the miles I put on my car currently. That and I get caught in rain on a regular basis on the highway, and the r888r just cant hold a candle to the cup 2s. Even the list of performance cars that come with cup 2s is pretty impressive.

If the straight r888 was made in a 20, I wouldn't even think twice about it. With all the suspension changes I've done, even the continentals have been hooking very well so far. So a switch to the wider and stickier cup 2s will help compensate for the extra hp and gear the car will get soon.

And honestly, even on kill in 1st gear, she just grabs and goes. I've already basically lost the ability to go do a crazy burnout. I kinda miss the old Goodyear's and their burnout on demand craziness. Even the second gear chirp is gone. The Goodyear's would nearly boil if I hit 2nd gear hard, and you had to modulate the pedal to keep the rear end from coming around. Now you just hold it to the floor and it goes.

Have you had a car with either the Toyo or Cup 2s?
The Cup 2s are great, I’m not arguing that, but with a bolt on Shelby and 4.10s, I personally know you need the most traction you can get.
I’d like to hear Cool Cobra’s comments on the Toyos, as I don’t think the wear expenditure is as bad as you’re thinking.

J, I've got 6k miles on my 888's an their holding up great. One reason, they don't spin!
I've had them on every type pavement & WOT, they stick. On concrete type pavement, they'll leave faint black marks under full acceleration, but won't turn over.
I've got caught in the rain a couple times & they aren't spooky like a DR. Very manageable.
I've got them on one of my Terminators also, same results. I'll be adding them to my SB Vert next, because it boils the Pilot Super Sports way up into 3rd gear. 888's will fix that problem.
Some guys claim they're a loud tire, I've not experienced that.
They also had bought used Toyo's. Had they been exposed to freezing temps? And,or were they properly heat cycled when new?
I have no reason to switch from the 888. Great all around tire. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Lol.

Good deal. I plan to run them on the ‘93 Cobra I’m building, as it will never see a track, just show and cruise, but I want to feel the 600hp, not spin.
R888s are expensive, but based on your experience they’re worth it to me.

Saw the tires, saw the wheels, saw the car and still was surprised how great it all looked together. If it wasn’t dry July, beers!

Looks good my friend. What Spring did you go with? Stance is spot on!
Eibach pro-kit. The variable rates that hit nearly exactly all the Ford performance pack spring rates is what sold me. The drop was listed almost too low for my liking, so I just upped my sidewall sizes to compensate some. That also semi forced me into 20s too, but I was fairly certain it would come out right. I did a few different sets of 19s with different tire sidewalls with a drop. As close to 28 inch, or even a tad over, looks perfect on a lowered s197.

Stock wheels, and even some old school cobras!!! I thought the old cobras looked awesome, but a 17 just isnt big enough on these style cars.

Tried to capture part of the glass roof. Maiden voyage with new Forgestar D5 drag set 18x5 and 17x10 with 28” front and 315/50/17 MT ET Rs close to 30” rears. It actually HOOKS second and 60-145 is nuts

Needs some tire dressing and betters angles. I’ll eventually plan to have them coated in the stock OEM SVTPP color.
They are also less than a pound differ from Weld RTS
