Hoping you can help me pick a 3-ton floor jack.

Not looking to threadjack Bob's thread but yes I have one and have been using it a lot before I get a real lift in. I'd agree with what 08mojo said. The only thing I will say if you are considering buying one, they offer the quickjacks in different lengths so buy the length most appropriate for your car. I got the smallest one on sale but its an inch too short to fit the jack pads of the M5. It'll work fine on the Mustang (jack rails) and Marauders (full frame). Since the Marauder is such a big car if I don't center them the right way it can get a little wobbly, I don't think I'd pull an engine or drop a trans using these. But all the work I've been doing so far, it's a serious time saver. Push button, car is up in 30 seconds, locked, done.

Completely agree, especially with the bolded text. You still have to be smart about lifting the car. If you plan to do extensive work, make sure you place jackstands for added protection if you are pulling an engine/trans.

I bought two of the Arcan hybrid 3 tons for $99 each from Costco about 2 years ago shipped to my house. Keep an eye out for when they offer them again. $250 is too much since Costco sells it for $99. Great jack for the price!

Update!

Well, I thought I had placed an order for the Harbor Freight Daytona 3-ton floor jack but found out 2 days later that for some reason the order never went through. So, I took a deep breath and re-evaluated my needs and changed my mind on the jack. I went with the Arcan 3-ton all-aluminum jack on Amazon. I got $70 off because I decided to get an Amazon Prime Visa card which offered an instant $70 gift card posted to my account. The jack arrived on Thursday along with some really solid Torin Big-Red jackstands, and a set of heavy duty solid rubber wheel chocks. I got to use the jack yesterday and it was great. I'm very pleased with the purchase. Quick lift, easy to move/maneuver, VERY solid construction, and it only weighs 56 lbs.

I recall reading an SVTP members story about one of the harbor freight aluminum jacks failing on him and almost taking his arm off. I don't think I'll go away from using steel floor jacks any time soon. Either way stay safe guys, always use redundancies.

Jack's fail. Buy a good one and always (ALWAYS!) use jack stands.

A guy in his 50's I played soccer with killed himself accidentally when his floor jack failed and his car crushed him. His wife found him dead under his car later that afternoon.

A close friend had his jack fail while changing a tire in his garage. Impact on his knee and a creased fender, but surprisingly no real sort or long term damage.

DON'T SKIMP. BE SAFE.

That's why I bought these solid jack stands. And the wheel chocks. I want my vehicle to be locked into position and safe before I work on it. When I was a teen, I did the dumb thing of using a scissor jack on dirt on a slight unlevel surface. Seconds before I was going to slide under the rear brake drum (wheel removed), it came down and made a good size "dent" in the ground. THAT shook me up big time.

Yep, always be safe!

I completely forgot about looking at Costco... I know I walked right by them every time I'm there. Unless they no longer stock'em...there's no listing on their website.

For me, I've been measuring the profiles of all these jacks because sadly I have an Old-School [20yr old] Craftsman aluminum jack that will need replacing.

I've made attempts to fill & bleed the lift cylinder thru the set screws... but not sure if I'm doing it right. Don't know where I could possibly have it serviced.

I have to find a replacement but it's gotta have a slim profile, sadly it's tough to get a jack under my SVTF [to lift the front section] and under the Steeda jacking rails on both the GT500 & RS

I didn't see any floor jacks the last time I was at my local Costco. I also noticed that the Arcan steel/aluminum jack was no longer available on their website. Looks like the steel/alumnum jack is no longer available on Amazon except from one third party seller, Modern Wholesale LLC.

After 20 plus years using steel jacks that were average at best I bought a 1.5 ton and 3 ton Pittsburgh rapid pump Aluminum racing jacks at Harbor Freight. They are lightweight and easy to handle. The 3 ton has a 6000 lb lift capacity and lifts most any vehicle easily. I used it on my 2014 GT500. Bought them back in 2013 and they still work great and look new. Excellent product.
I also have two Pittsburgh racing jacks which I bought from Harbor Freight around 2011. I've had no issues using it on the Cobra and another car for several years now. I also use their jack stands. Besides functioning very well they also look great! I drop big garbage bags over the handle bars to keep the dust off them and also another bag at the bottom. And they get wiped down with micro fiber cloths occasionally.

FYI, the all aluminum Arcan 3-ton floor jack has a 3 3/4" minimum height. One inch higher than the steel 2-ton Arcan floor jack. My G70 is fairly low and the Arcan 3-ton jack slides under with room to spare. Only $23 more than the 2-ton all steel Arcan jack.
