Hey guys/gals - Those of you who've had Bob tune your car, did he have a preference of fuel injectors and pumps? I guess it doesn't matter too much, but I'd rather make his life easier if he has a preference or has a certain way he does things. And I know he's usually pretty busy. Thanks.

He prefers FICs and you can buy them from him. I ran 80s and he did a fantastic job tuning those but will be switching to FIC 1200 when I get off my lazy bumm.

Thanks man! Good to hear from you.

Any name brand suggestions on pumps and spark plugs while we're at it?

These threads always make me wonder why they don't call the tuner instead of posting. The tuner would be able to answer the questions easily.

I run NGK's in mine. Pumps depend on the goal. And if you're staying returnless or not.

I did call twice and sent two emails over the last month. He seems very busy and I'm impatient and finally have some time and money to get my project off the ground. No need to derail the thread with unnecessary comments.

Thanks for your input.

They have been very busy lately. What car is this in? What is your setup? What are you goals? NGKs are always a great choice but depending on questions above which ones you chose may be different.

In an 03 GT with a N/A 5.8 dohc (FGT), 00R intake, mild cams, ported heads, full exhaust, t56.

Goal is 500rwhp, 450rwtq.

Well now I have a bulge in my pants at work! Very nice! Injectors I say FRPP 80s or FIC 1000s. As far as pumps are you going return style or staying returnless? NGKs for plugs and also what fuel tank?

It's why I also mentioned running NGK plugs and that the pumps depend on the set up and goals.

What fuel will you be using? That'll make a difference in injector size as well. I've used 80's in the past on a 5.3L so I'd imagine they'll work fine for your combo. And last time I looked they were comparable in price to 60's. For my next set up I went with ID's.

That’s going to be a nice setup. I think your short changing yourself a little. I made 460rwhp and 400rwtq on a similar setup on a 5.3 though. I wanted 500 too but I think the extra 1/2 liter will really help you. Our specs are similar minus that extra displacement. That’s going to put you over I think.

But yes Kurgan is nearly impossible to get ahold of at times he’s awesome. Awesome people are busy. Plan on boost later I didn’t and had too redo the fuel. Just buy everything from Kurgan. I bought a whole kit from him. His 03 04 tank, fic 1000, fore -8 -10 lines etc with twin 465 pumps etc. Just call his shop and talk too ward or warren I think. Bobs awesome I did my whole build and he reached out and helped with every question I had delays yes but he’s making money he’s busy as hell.

Which ones? You still need the "long" injector, right? If not some short gt500 injectors would be perfect.
Not sure. I guess.

Can't be disappointed if you don't expect the world. Haha. But you're right, I may go boost much later. But I won't it to be somewhat reliable on Fridays. And yea. I'm not slamming or dissing him or anything. He's the best in the business from everyone I've talked to or who has had him tune their stuff. So, that's why I'm being patient. I just wanted to get all my ducks in a row and make it easy on him...maybe save some time on the back end.

I think his engine is completely different as he has the GT heads and R intake.

I too would recommend calling and talking to Ward. They will get you setup.

Probably a lot closer than you think. I have a fr500 setup with some heavily ported 04 heads. The two top ends probably flow very close

Just out of curiosity, why is the stock GT (mustang) fuel tank insufficient? Too small of a fuel capacity?
