Yeah claim form is legit, but the check site is bullshit.

Smith 111111 eligible
Frank 111111 eligible
Ball 111111 eligible
Jones 121212 eligible
Shitstorm 111111, ok that didn't work.

For those of you unsure about the legitimacy of the website, it is real. Here is the link the FTC website that has that website linked.

Equifax Data Breach Settlement

The site works too because my wife put her info in and wasn't eligible since her info wasn't compromised. I on the other hand did have have my info compromised. So I am getting the 125.

The link is through the FTC. The site that you click to check is the claims trustee/administrator. It is comparable to when you pay your mortgage you are not actually paying your bank, you are paying an administrator. It is legit.

I was already a victim of identity theft once. I'm just not comfortable with it. Thanks anyway, though.

Says I'm valid. I should probably do this now. I often see something like that, post it on my FB, don't do it myself, and then in 6 months get a couple messages from friends, thanking me for the free money. That happened to me with Harbor Freight. No proof of purchase required, fill out some forms and something like $16 mailed to you. Opps. :(

I trusted this site, and these links a bit more than CNN.

I claimed the $125 and 7 hours.
5 hours researching why equifax failed to protect my PII, in September 2017
2 hours responding to lifelock identity alerts and determining if I needed to take any actions, in September 2017.

If you did the same ;) I commend you for being informed.

Some of y'all being worried about 'giving' your information like it isn't already known and out there (plus a lot more). Have you ever used a credit/debit card? Have you ever purchased something requiring your credit to be checked?

Still ridiculous to have a validation that is BS by a large company.

Equifax is a joke. They have my mother's birthday listed as mine and have me having lived at addresses I've never lived. I hounded them to change it but they refused. It was funny when I bought my Explorer. The salesman at the dealership comes out laughing after doing a credit check and told me I looked remarkably young for my age. I filled out the form to get 125 bucks though.

Not off the top of my head. Unless they just assumed/guessed and it's more likely than not that everyone was compromised?

If it's because you have no credit history, I know that's not the case.

They know if you're one of the many because they already have all that information of yours you're trying to hold onto so preciously. LOL
