Wife wants a smartwatch for her Bday. I know nothing about em. Who has what? What do you like/don't like? Think she's mainly looking to use it for texts/emails/calendar, etc...
Shit, sorry guys. She has a Google Pixel. I guess her main reason for wanting it is at work they have to have their phones away, so this would be a way she could still see if somebody is trying to get ahold of her (i.e. our kids school, my mom when she has our kids, etc...)

Yep my Apple Watch is not worn all the time either. I am sure I could find better use for it. I do like wearing it to the gym to keep track of cardio etc. I noticed my heart rate goes up to close to 160 doing heavy dumbell curls and walking them back to the rack. So anyone saying weightlifting is not cardio is not correct. I probably burn more calories lifting weights for 45mins - 1 hour than 30 minutes on the stair master.I was using an Apple Watch (latest version), which I initially liked. I found it convenient when I didn't want to carry my iPhone. But the thrill factor waned pretty quickly for me. The OS was quirky at times and therefore the watch wasn't as reliable as I needed it to be. Sometimes, for example, it wouldn't announce an incoming call. I also didn't like the fact that people around could hear my conversations since people tend to talk louder into the watch than normal. Lastly, the screen face is just too small and not anywhere near as simple to use as a smart phone. So after maybe 3 months of use, mine sits in my closet, where it will stay. My wife, though, loves hers. In part because she is way too attached to it. She even wears it to bed. Bugs the crap out of me when smart devices control our lives to that extent. She's not alone in this. I see way too many people every day spending way too much time talking on their phones, texting, answering calls like every one was very important. So I'm not a fan. Hope your wife likes it.

I got my wife her first iPhone in 2009. She reluctantly accepted it but aked me a few times why did I get it the flip phone was fine and she hated the smart phone. Now you have to surgically remove her from her iPhone XR. She is on the thing constantly and does stuff with it I did not even think was possible lol!
Yes I agree. I absolutely do cardio every time I am in the gym. I was just surprised how weightlifting gets my heart rate going. I also workout superset style sometimes with no rest between sets. I might bench press, move straight to lat pull downs, then do sit ups and leg raises before going back to another set of bench press / lat pull downs. Weightlifting burns more calories in the long run compared to cardio alone if lean body mass is increased as a result. But for cardiovascular health cardio is best you are right. Not the same as steady state cardio. Sure you can get your heart rate up, I know I do, but don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s cardio, so you don’t need to work in cardio days.
