Ok, I have an older 2.3 turbo motor swapped into my 96 Ranger. I wanted OBD2 drivability and ease of tuning so I converted the old motor to run newer electronics. Truck has been together a few and runs well.

After installing a wideband, I have found the truck idles extremely rich. 10.5 to 1 generally. At first, I made attempts with an older TwEECer device. I could make changes but never could get the idle dialed in. I recently purchased SCT Advantage for some hopefully more modern tuning. I even purchased an email tune to get me started. However, no matter where I make changes or how extreme they are, idle is still excessively rich.

I have made changes to

Pulse width vs voltage
MAF Transfer
Base fuel
I also used SCT value files to force open loop and turn off emissions.

My budget was much different when I started this project years ago. I know the injectors are off eBay and probably cheapies. I'm thinking they might not be able to control flow at idle well??

What wideband are you running? Is the truck running ok?

It's an Innovative LC-1 I believe. I'm waiting on a cable so I can log the wideband with the SCT software.

The truck otherwise runs well. In regular cruising the A/F is around 14 to 1 and 12 to 1 as it's comes into boost. Haven't spun it up too far yet as I don't trust my tuning just yet.

I can make changes to MAF Transfer and see changes in the wideband anywhere else except idle.

Ive tuned several of them in fact we have a shop 96 ranger with an svo 2.3 and volve 4v heads on it making 18 lbs using the 06 ranger ecu since it doesnt use the dual coil pack setup.

in any case on most of the rangers the maf is disabled at idle. Go to the maf backflow functions and null them you can also disable the backflow region sw if you have access to it

Ok thank you for some input. Have the day off today and am wiring up my wideband for logging. I plan on trying to make some changes later on so I will keep this in mind.
