Do you anticipate big rebates eventually for the '20+ explorers? I was eyeing them but pricing seems way too high. Im comparing to my '13 loaded sport I grabbed for low 40s. Seems the equivalent equipped '20 is $55k+

At some point. But right now there's no reason for Ford to have big rebates on them. They aren't readily available enough to try and move yet. I doubt you see $2500+ rebates until 1st quarter next year.

Going to start shopping new f250s this weekend. I’m looking for a lariat , 4x4 Offroad package, nav, 20” wheels and the better looking LED lights and I don’t want to pay over $59’999.

I will have a 5/5 low mile mustang GT as a trade in. Title in hand. Credit over 700 but I’m not sure how much over. Only debt is my house.

Is it reasonable to expect to find what I’m looking for at the right price?

Yes, as long as they have allocation and it hasn't been ordered already.

No. In order to get the LED lights you have to go with the Lariat Ultimate Package. They will MSRP for $73-75k. Upper $60k's is where they'll be.

No sir. It's a crap-shoot.

Only way to have any idea is to contact dealerships until someone tells you they have one available, then ask how many total they have for this year, then ask which number you are. Then you have to trust them, because apart from that, it's all a trust game...it'll be 50/50 whether or not they're honest with you.

Thanks. I was asking cause this dealer is telling me they have an allocation but that the bank orders aren’t open yet...so yeah, for obvious reasons I’m having trouble believing them. The manager had the audacity to tell the salesman I was lying about having one on order.

50/50 is being generous Nick.

Banks aren't open yet? lol Hm. Interesting.

Nah, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I think one of the problems is that a random dealer/manager/salesmen just don't know wtf they are talking about.

Correct. A lot of them, especially the ones that don't have a clue, will give you all the 'right' answers up front...only to give you the actual bad news later.

@13COBRA Question for you boss: If I were to build a Super Duty online, but I couldnt find that particular build on any lots, what percent down is the industry average to custom order a truck? Im assuming that if financing were required that would have to be in place prior to ordering?

I have 2 Ford dealers in my dealer group but most of their units are well optioned trucks. I want a simple truck if I decide to buy new, as the cost of the 6.7 Powerstrokes is pretty high.

I’ve not heard of anything down until delivery. I ordered my f150 and didn’t pay a thing down. Pricing was based on current incentives and they claimed if they got better they could work with that

If it's an oddly optioned truck/vehicle, I usually take a $1,000-2,000 deposit to order. That money can either be refunded or put towards the purchase at the time of delivery.

See above.

I saw that the flex is discontinued. How do you expect dealers to treat leftover '19MY? Is it possible to get a killer deal? Will Ford rebate them?

Just like every other vehicle. Ford will throw some rebates on them, and they will get a date for final pay (meaning, no more rebate changes, and it is what it is).

Personally, I would roll them. They're great vehicles, drive exceptionally well...but they don't command the sales numbers to sit on them.

I had a limited as a rental and loved it. It's basically the same as my explorer but boxier. I guess the name and the shape turns people off while the explorer sells like hot cakes. It's a shame it's being discontinued but why keep what doesn't sell

The Flex's actually drive better than the Explorers. My biggest positive of the Flex over the Explorer is the sheer comfort of the seats, I love them.

In the last 90 days (in the Kansas City Region) there have been 177 2019 Flex's sold, and 2,839 2019/20 Explorers sold.
