Let’s if any comments change when the GT500 and C8 start to report track numbers (drag and road course). Will the focus remain on the weight of the GT500?

Um, because they had another chance to make is so much more and dropped the ball. Just because it was a pig in the past doesn't mean it needed to be a pig again, especially with today's available materials and technology.
Is that why the c8 is heavier than the c5 c6 and c7?
GM dropped the ball....

I don't think 237 lbs is much of a difference given the huge PLATFORM CHANGE ( 3298 vs 3535 )

2020 C8 is 3535
2020 GT500 is 4225

Looks to me like the C8 has 690 lbs to play with and still be under the GT500 weight...so no, don't think GM dropped the ball.

It's roughly 8k to add a blower on a vette...so add that onto MSRP of 58,900 and you get a car that is still probably at least 400lbs lighter, makes just as much if not more hp and will undoubtedly handle better for 66,900 (less than GT500).

Except with this Vette you do not have nearly the room to play around and add S/C to due to the front of the engine being right up against the firewall. So it isn't as simple as with the C5-7 on just slapping an Edelbrock S/C and calling it a day. You could go twin turbo but then have a whole lot of under hood heat issues. Again GM has put themselvves into a corner that is not going to be easy or cheap to solve if you want to add any aftermarket performance stuff to this psudo Ferrari.

From a space standpoint, it will be way easier to add a SC or Turbo system to this mid engine layout. No more hood clearance issues to deal with, and you have acres of real estate for a turbo system.

GM didn't reinvent the wheel here. Power adders are a very common upgrade to mid engine cars. They seem to do just fine.

Mechanic access is another issue....

Where did you get the weight. Magazines were speculating that it would be over 3600lbs. Even GM said it was 100 or 200lbs above the c7.

My point being that from 03 to 20 the svt mustang weight has gone up by 600lbs roughly. In that same time the vette has in increased in weight by 500 to 600lbs. That looks eerily similar. Yet the vettes 600lbs is good and the mustangs is bad?

Where are the 3100lb 500hp monsters today?

The supposed leaks from GM show 3535# for the base C8 and 3577 for the Z51. About 250# over their respective C7 versions.

Anyway, most would still consider the vette a middle weight, while the Mustang has graduated to fully obese. I think that's why you see the different reactions.

Thanks for the inside source info.

Agreed, but the mustang has been obese when compared to others since 2003. This is nothing new.

Just shows how biased you are. I say the weight and you immediately dismiss it. Someone else says it after me and you're fine with it.

Don't be angry, it's okay you don't understand that auto projects being developed over years change. What ever happened to those fender vents a VERY RELIABLE SOURCE on here said were a sure thing? Things change, but your bias remains the same.

Who was your insider again? Oh yeah poof an imaginary friend. I’m not angry I’m laughing at you honestly. You were the laughing stock of that thread. Apparently I understand more than you and trust more reliable sources than your so called source.

Because everything you state turns out to be wrong. Excuse me, misinformation.
The c8 is quite a bit heavier than the c7. Yet you are not complying. Why?

Considering a total of zero have been delivered to customers and as such tuning shops, this is pure conjecture.

It's 270 pounds heavier...that's not a lot to me for a platform change.

The GT500 is 690 pounds heavier than a C8...that's a lot to me.
