Factory wheels so they would be a 275/40/17. Planning on pulley this winter and maybe port the blower next spring/summer so 500rwhp max. Thinking drag radials really are not necessary for this hp but I'm no expert. I'd prefer something that gets at least 10-20k miles between sets.

Having a hard time deciding what to replace my joke tires with (Riken raptors that came on it). Correct me if I'm wrong but seems some of the more popular tires are the R888R and the NT05. I can get nearly 1/2 off on BF Goodrich tires but it seems the Sport Comp-2 is really the only option...any reviews on this tire?

EDIT: should have noted street sunny days only.

Although the BFG's are a nice tire and I have them on my front wheels, they will not hold 500rhp, if you're driving around like your hair is on fire.

I have the Toyo R888 on the rear of my Shelby GT500, mods in sig.
I am comfortable with them. Anything is better than the Goodyears.
I have also bought a set of BFG G Force Riva S 1.5 s for the rear of my Cobra kit car.
I cannot make a comparison, but the specs read good. I bought from Summit, being told they were not available from anyone else. I think I saw them at Tire Rack or Direct, one of them for about $50 less per set.
Love the R888s about 2K miles on them.

The bfg R-1 would be comparable to the toyo r888. If you want it to stick, it will wear fast. If you like to do burnouts, then the sport comps will work well and last longer. Compared to an all season tire both are leaps and bounds ahead for warm dry traction, but when cold they have the traction of plastic. I watched a guy wrap his ACR viper around a light pole on a 45° day because of lack of traction and lack of driver skill. Your driving habits and skill will tell you what you should get. If you drive light then the sport comps, if you are heavy footed then get the sticky tires to keep you from being the next meme at a car show

I run the Comp 2 BFG G force on my Terminator and its all stock other than the front front horse is a snake :)

I only drive mine on the sunny days and they grab well. They also don't hurt the wallet any, and if I ever need to replace one Discount tire can get them quick. If i did hit some rain (I live in Seattle so it happens a lot) I feel comfortable with them on the car for that also.

I agree with you that there is not the options for 17 inch wheels available like there were 10 years ago....... (on the bright side though the prices are lower than they were 10 years ago)

I remember buying an Eagle F1 replacement tire for the original tires and it was over 400 bucks back in 2004

Ok well I'm sick of having a useless first gear and 75% useless second gear and I'm stock hp now... How many miles can I expect from the NT05 or R88R, I'm not a huge burnout person.

I did see the BFG R-1 but damn they look pretty close to a slick and probably are insanely dangerous in the rain. I don't plan on driving on rainy days but summer here can bring on uncalled for storms and I do have a 25 mile commute.

I guess I could keep my crap tires up front until they wear out...or maybe replace them with the BF Sport Comp2?

I put BFG Sport Comp 2 tires on a previous Terminator I had. They are good tires. I put NT05s on my 2000 Cobra R, they are considerably better (more traction) than the BFGs. I also run R888s on my GT500... hands-down the best traction I’ve experienced, but they are noisy bastards. I have not tried the updated R888Rs yet.

For stockish power levels in an 03/04, I highly recommend NT05s.

Thanks for your experience on all 3 of these tires, sounds like I'll give the NT05's a shot. Any clue on expected mileage outta them?

Do I need to do all 4 or am I safe with just the rears if my fronts still are almost brand new tread? I never ran mismatches tires before...but also never had a car like this before either.

I’ve only put a couple hundred miles on my 00R with the NT05s so I cannot attest to their longevity. They have a tread wear rating of 200, which makes them a little softer, but is why they have good grip. Regular tires are 300+. The R888s have a 100 rating. For what it’s worth, I run mismatched tires on my GT500 with zero issues/drama. It’s not a corner carver like my R is though. You’ll be fine with mismatched tires on your Terminator.

Run NT555R Nittos if you want traction AND some tread life. R888Rs last about 3 months with regular driving.

Unless the R888Rs are significantly different than the R888s, this is simply not true. I’ve had R888s on the back of my GT500 for a few years. I also drive it like I stole it.

I have the BFG Sport Comp 2's on my lightly modded '09 GT500 and like them. I had Michelin A/S 3's on them previously and found them over-priced for the performance offered before switching to the BFG's S/C2. Mindya, my car is a daily driver, ergo this choice; the car is not used for any sort of racing/street or track, so it suits my DD purposes well. I think I'm closing in on 30k on them and it's getting close to replacement time. Tread down the center is getting thinner. Overall, I've found them a good, general use tire, w/good wear characteristics, above average handling/braking, good rain handling, low noise and will likely buy them again quite soon.
