I have been contemplating going down to 1 killer ride for a while now but really couldn't decide which to keep and which to sell.

So the decision was made to sell both but what car would be worth me selling both of my killer rides for?

I thought about the new 500 for a while but the endless dragging out of info turned me off the car and the weight reveal sealed the decision for me and I wasn't thinking ZR1 till I was able to find a new one in Canada (they are not easy to find up here new at that time as most have been sold already).

Mine was inbound when I bought and was ordered exactly the way I wanted other than color so I'm changing my preference there.

I think both engines have lots of potential but I won't be tapping into anything major mod wise. I'm just going to enjoy it the way it comes from GM for a while.

edit: watch this (17:50 in)

Mean setup for sure... but lotsa work done on that motor.

I would guess that the 5.2l with e85 and 22psi would hit close to 1200hp.

Making the power wont be an issue, and I think this car has the cooling to support it.

I am a big fan of this DCT but I think the factory tune has the torque artificially low to increase reliability of the gearbox.

I hope we can quickly get to point where running 800+ lb ft of tq thru it is an achievable goal.

It won't be any different modding the Predator to make similar #'s, it's not like you are hitting 1,xxx RWHP by just tuning, changing a pulley and air intake it's all the little things that work together to get those dyno queen #'s everybody wants.

Actually, with the DOHC and VCT, it will be much easier than with the LT5. The Predator cams are pretty aggressive for a 5.2, the only downside I see being static compression at 9.5. Still with VCT and pulled to overcome the lower compression, all it should take is good octane a tune and a pulley to hit 800rwhp all day. With even more boost, headers and a big TB/CAI, I see 1000rwhp happening very soon at 8000rpm.
Just hoping the DCT holds!

Doesn't matter, it ain't cheap to mod these engines to make dyno queen #'s.

The old saying applies...……………..gotta pay to play.

Not really sure why you’re saying dyno queen numbers. Some of us actually use the power on track.

The majority of people playing at that level will never make full use of the power they pay a ton of money for on the dyno to make those #'s. They just want the graph with the big # on it.

For those that do make use of the HP they pay to get out of these engine's, kudos to u.

I prefer to optimize a vehicle's chassis and weight reduction to get better performance then add the power, but not to that level. Not needed for what I do with my car.

Different strokes for different folks as they say.

Well my friends built 5.2 Coyote and a 3.0 Whipple hits 1200hp on less than 22# but that’s close :)

Is that Scott Hasty ?
I thinks it’s probably 3500 lbs though?
Engine was built by Will @RPG and is truly badass .
He also built the predator based short block in my Hellion car with GT350 heads and the ford racing Gen 2 cams (I presume similar set up in the GT 500)

My Car made 969 whp@13 psi and almost 1100@17 .
Trapped 155 mph in the 1/4 @FULL weight with heavy 18 inch wheels.

Yes, Scott is a good friend and builds that beast in my garage.
I’ve been thru it all with him, actually just at the track yesterday getting ready for mod Nats.
My car goes to the exhaust shop Monday.
We will be going to Mod Nats together, hoping for 8.20s and 9.20s.
My LX will be getting Scott’s combo but with twin turbos and 500# less at line :)

That is awesome !

Your car is going to be nasty .

Another RPG build ? What heads ?

I am loving the one in my Hellion TT S550.
It’s as smooth as butter .

Thanks!
Some things TBD but I bought a Billet Lasala 6R and would like to use a well sorted combo from other guys that have had success, not trying to reinvent the wheel. Your builds included. You’re not far from us, would be cool to meet up at some local events.
I’m usually here and Scott’s on Facebook so we’re easy to track down :)

Would love too.
Unfortunately after finally getting what I think is the most reliable engine/transmission combo (added forward billet planetary gears with latest 6r80 rebuild ) in the car I just listed it for sale .
Not many bites and won’t be sad if I keep it .
Just afraid to race it again . Lol

Part of the problem with the new stuff is weight. S197 was heavy and S550 got heavier, with the Shelby just under 4200# base and 4100# CFTP.
Scott has done a LOT to get close to a 3500# race weight in his 2011.
While the same badass 5.2TT/6R like in your S550 runs strong at 3800#, imagine it at 3000# with driver in a Foxbody.
That’s my plan anyway.
