I'm upgrading to a bigger supercharger this month so I decided to get better gauges for the oil pressure, boost and AFR.
I went with the prosport evo series. I have all the sensors wired right. I'm getting good readings the issue that I'm having is getting the gauges to switch colors properly.
If anyone is familiar with these the input would be appreciated.
They all work the same ground wire (black), red and white (power), and orange (color switch).
I added the red and white to an accessory power fuse that was unused. This is working perfect.
Then I tapped the orange wire onto the dimmer on the headlight switch thinking I'd have the ability to dim the gauges without realizing that when the voltage drops on the dimmer the "power" wires take over and the gauges simply turn back to blue.
I left the orange wire (color switch) tapped onto the dimmer, since I don't ever adjust that, so that the gauges would turn red when the headlights are on.
The problem I am now experiencing however is that during the day I have function as expected. On accessory power with the headlights turned off the gauges are blue. And when I turn the headlights on the gauges turn red. Exactly as desired. However, at night, the gauges just stay blue regardless of the headlight switch. This has happened for three days in a row now. I have perfect function during the day and then at night it all messes up again.
To me, it doesn't make sense that this is happening. Is the circuit on the dimmer connected to the clock on the car? It's not an automatic headlight switch. So I truly have no idea how the time of the day is making a difference here.
