Depends on car, goals, if you plan on tuning yourself helps adding to it being worth it.

If you’re just running basic mods (ie. pulley exhaust gears cai ported Eaton) then no I don’t see it being worth it. UNLESS like Godstang said above. If you’re gonna do your own tuning then it’s definitely worth it. Even more so if you go with a built motor cams ported heads big blower LT headers etc. $1360 shipped is hard to beat. Just my opinion and yes, I bought one.
Another thing to consider is the added features it has. Traction Control, Flex Fuel, individual cylinder knock detection and control. Plus a number of user adjustable safeties that can be implemented to save your motor based on fuel pressure, oil pressure, engine coolant temp etc. As you can see the benefits quickly outweigh the price. Again in my opinion.

Does anyone know if it can control a 4r70
Take a look at DIYAutoTune’s website and look through the MS3Pro Ultimate manual (314 pages) it has a very detailed glossary that you should be able to find that answer. If not I believe they have transmission controllers that will talk to the MS3PRO PnP. The MS3PRO PnP may even be able to talk to 3rd party transmission controllers. I don’t remember right off the top of my head but something about that stands out to me.

MalcomV8 May be able to answer that too. He has been running the older MS3PRO unit for a few years now I believe.
KEVIN a member on MFords is also running the older version on his 2valve GT with a 4r70.
I’m hesitant to think the Terminator specific unit would without an external transmission controller since they never came with an auto of any kind from the factory.

I could be wrong though since the 2valve GT version and the 03-04 Mach 1 version would have to be capable since some of them had 4r70’s from the factory. The answers out there somewhere!!

I'd definitely hit up Malcolmv8 he can probably get you some answers and he's also a dealer and will save you some cash on one. @MalcolmV8

Just looked at a post from KEVINS over and MFords and he is NOT using the MS3PRO to control his 4r70. He is running a Baumann Quick Shift 4 in his car.

I pulled this from the DIYAutoTune website description for the 03-04 Cobra MS3Pro PnP.
  • CANBus connector allows interconnection of other MegaSquirt-compatible devices for additional functions (EGT Input, Automatic Transmission Controller, Additional Sensors…..the possibilities are limitless!
