I'll try to make this as short as possible

Truck is a 2015 F150 with a 2.7L

- 45k miles, I brought it in for a leaking oil pan
- 54k miles and 5 months later, I finally got a call to bring it in to replace the pan mentioned above.
- 61k miles, I brought it back in for the pan leaking again. This time they confirmed that the pan is leaking again and also oil is leaking out the driver side headgasket(I never heard of this but i did look and confirmed it is happening).

Warranty isn't covering any of the repairs because the warranty starts on the pan issue when the parts are ordered which puts the repair over the 12k mile warranty. I'm shocked to hear this since it wasn't actually changed until 54k miles meaning I only have 7k miles on the actual repair. At this point I'm not even sure what to say about the head gasket.

I have a call in to Ford Customer Service and waiting for a call back from whomever they escalated it to. I honestly don't have much confidence in the truck and would prefer to part ways but outside of trading it in, is there anything I can get ford to do?

I don’t know how ford does it but warranty starts the day the vehicle is repaired not when a part is ordered. That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. I’d call other dealers and ask what the repair warranty is and see if it’s just this dealer that’s being dumb.

I agree and i'm willing to bet they got paid by ford back around the time when the part was ordered and not 5 months later when the actual repair took place. Thats the only possible way i can see where they have the mileage of the repair back in January in the system. Unfortunately for me, i have zero documentation that the repair took place in June and not Jan.

Did you get an invoice? If you did is it dated from January? If so then that in itself can cause a problem for ford. It’s bad for a dealer to have warranty paperwork “open” for that long. So if you can get in touch with ford that may help your case

The invoice I have is from January, interesting part is that there's a hand written note that says *DEFERRED* on that particular repair line. I didnt think anything of it at that time. Probably screwed myself.

There should be an open date and close date on your invoice. If it was open in January and they closed it in May when the truck was repaired then I think you will be fine getting it covered. If the invoice says opened in January and closed in January then there’s a problem. But I can’t see how they would have repaired your truck in May without a repair order.

Usually "deferred" was added to the line on the ticket when the work was pushed to a later date due to parts availability. That is what we used to put on tickets when parts were unavailable and it was ok for the customer to take the vehicle.

Ok... so I was able to get a hold of the June invoice. Completion date shows 6/18/2019 for the oil pan replacement but the problem that I see now is that the "MILES IN" on the June invoice is 45,821. The printout from January shows "MILEAGE IN" at 45,816. So according to this, on paper it shows mileage increased by 5 miles in 5 months.

Tell the dealer that or tell ford that about the mileage. It’s 100% the service advisors job to make sure mileage is accurate because it screws up carfax and warranty issues. If it were my dealership that issue alone would have us fix the truck at no cost to the customer.

Appreciate it. I feel that I have enough to stand on for the oil pan but that leaves the head gasket which isn't cheap. Any advice on that one?

That’s a tough one. My dealership would goodwill it because you are just barely out of warranty. But, it doesn’t sound like this dealer will be to helpful in that. I’d call ford on that issue and see if they will help. and if you stress the fact that you’ve been having other problems and arnt really happy about the whole situation and with the truck then it may push them over the edge and help you. From my personal experience with issues like this it’s the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.

Yep, at our shop if we screw up on the mileage and someone comes back for warranty work and we didnt put it in right then we are warranting that work unless they have surpassed our 12mo portion of the warranty. Mileage will really screw shop over if they input it wrong.

That sucks you're having such an issue. I brought my 17 platinum 3.5EB to my local dealer 2 weeks ago for a litany of issues... Let's just say for starters it's getting a new long block front differential rear differential and front axles, I made my warranty deadline with regards to time by four days... Which I was incredibly excited about. Truck has 35000+ miles on it so I was just under the mileage for the bumper to bumper warranty as well.

I must say I've had nothing but good luck with my Ford trucks until now this being my fourth one. I bought it as a dealer demo had a huge discount in 2017 after my 2015 Lariat was totaled... I must have just got a truck that was either built on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon because it's had a ton of issues small and large... And my 2015 was essentially the same truck except it had a 6-speed versus the 10-speed and I had the Boost turned up the timing Advanced and running a 93 tune with 3 inch catless exhaust all the way back.... That truck ran 12.90s and I ran the balls off that thing as far as Towing and just driving aggressively and the only issue would ever had was the Leaky rear window which is common with the 15+ trucks.

I'm very lucky in that a friend of mine from high school is the technician that always works on my truck at this local dealer so I know everything is done the utmost care. I'm sure he's a big reason everything was covered and approved so quickly. All Ford asked for was receipts for the oil and filters that I bought because I do my own oil changes.... I don't think that's unreasonable being that they're covering a long block removal and installation.

Good luck with what's going on man.
