I did business with and toured the Toyota KY plant outside of Lexington 20 years ago. I bet the cars coming from that plant have as many USA made parts as any GM plant.

If you really want to buy American and support non-union labor, buy a Toyota.

....

:D :D :D :D :D

Looks like all the parts are imported. Why not make the parts here?

That was your 1st problem you sold GM. Hopefully you weren't buying them.
I had to leave a business for a year to satisfy a non-compete contract, to open my own business. So I sold Mexican made Buicks (not all of them, but some of them) for a year and a half.

Im just giving you a hard time. Im not happy with any of the manufacturers that open plants in Mexico. Love my fusions but all of mine were unfortunately made in Mexico.

That Kentucky plant was expanded and now produces Lexus ES350s as well as Camry.

Reading some of the Dodge Ram forums from back in the day, the vast majority of owners WANTED the Mexican produced trucks. Apparently it seemed that the build quality was better than the US production of the same year.

If you don't mind answering, what does your company make?

This question surprised me. A lot of manufacturing guys here on the board for Automotive.

I'm the BM for an Automotive Supplier. We make Clutch product, Chassis/Suspension, Mounts, Auto trans parts, Fuel pumps, Strut mounts, Quick Struts, and some other stuff.

Weather stripping and and on some newer vehicles look at the windshield it’s behind the glass. It doesn’t actually sit on the edge of the glass it’s behind it.

The real question behind strikes and bailouts should be quality, costs, selling points as well radical cost on cars. One thing the world doesn't understand is the US has a 60 mile round trip commute vs taking public transportation, second is were not squashed into meat department of a city like tokyo, we as consumers need to start fighting back on the cost of cars, also the growing wages has taken a hit and someone in IT field has felt it. I quit my job 5 months ago an have recently been on 20+ interviews and with my credentials and experience are basically looking at taking a 20K hit in pay, it's a joke now of days.

The stupid H1B/GC is a good part of the blame. Almost modern day slavery and it knocks the floor out of IT wages, like chopping wages shins off and sewing the feet to the knees, and that chop propagates up and out across all the various niches of IT.

I've got to work several jobs to make near what I made coming out of College in '05, and my expenses are much higher as I travel to 12 sites in Kansas and 6 in Colorado.

Overpaid executives and management makes bad decisions and the "lazy union workers" get the blame. Too many chiefs cashing in without performance.

not sure what the whole unions are bad shit is coming from. In this crony (non meritocractic) "capitalism" we have now, they are the only way to get good work when you don't know someone and are not an insider.

And what some people see as promoting themselves, others may see as sucking up to the boss. It is all perspective. If a manager can't see or doesn't know what you are doing, then he is a bad manager. And If pay only goes to the guy who pushes for it, it isn't necessarily deserved. A beta may be smarter and more capable, but not as good at "advocating" for themselves for more pay. This is what unions do for highly capable people.

I look forward to when more "Knowlwdge Workers" begin to unionize. As it is now, LEAN MFG treats us as dogs..acknowledgement, recognition, training and a few parties for us....because we supposedly are not motivated by money like the managers and executives are..

The workers do the actual work; that's why they are called workers.

Yes let the thing collapse and get the first money out of the executives hides. We don't shame them enough in this country and we should. Forbes should have a list of worse performing executives and it should be an entire magazine with articles.

Bah ahaha ha! Wow! What flavor Kool Aod you drinking?

Mold legacy connector covers for APTIV/Delphi at our site. Strike has not affected our production yet. Not sure how it's affected the others.
