Edge ST but replace the following:
Engine = 3.5L HO Ecoboost - 450hp/510tq
Transmission = 6 speed unit from 2015+ Edge Sport modified to handle the extra hp/tq.
Suspension = monotube dampers from Edge ST(they are excellent) but add higher rate springs and lower additional .5" over the current Edge ST.
Brakes = Explorer ST units with performance pads and some air deflectors on the control arms(a'la porsche 911)
Wheels = 21" current Edge ST wheels with the 265/40R21 PZeros. Make them as light as possible for increased performance as the current 21" wheels are stupendously heavy.

Keep the Edge ST body kit but get rid of the shitty fake exhaust pipes and plumb two 3.5" exhaust tips. The styling of the Edge ST is there with a few body tweaks but the powertrain needs to have way more oomph to impress the people looking for a performance SUV.
I'd rather have the Explorer than the Edge.
The Explorer looks TONS better.

EV will eventually take over the market. With the recent advancements in batteries especially in the automotive world, these things will be light years ahead of current combustion motors and date gas motors in no time. I’m all in, only if it makes 5.0 noises though.

How bout the fusion with the aviator 400hp 500tq powertrain?

The fist and fors a real Ranger and the 2020 bronco.

The last fiesta would have been nuts in sales if they did not have that crap auto.

Im going for all out performance within certain guidelines. The issue with the Explorer is the weight over the Edge especially when thinking parts-bin specials that Ford is known for. If its a clean sheet build you could go hog wild with the 5.2 supercharged v8 and a 10 speed in the Explorer. Since the Edge already had the 3.5L(non EB) we know that the engine will fit within the engine bay. There is already the 2.7 EB available so we know it has some room for a CAC out front and the appropriately sized radiators for a turbocharged drivetrain. The Edges' curb weight is 3900lbs versus the Explorers starting curb weight of 4400lbs gives it a good start in building a performance SUV.

A 450hp/510tq Edge would be a total riot and is easily feasible in Ford's current lineup. It would compete directly with the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 which is a MASSIVE seller for Fiat/Chrysler at this time. The Explorer could compete with the Durango(3rd row SUV battle) with the supercharged v8/A10.
