I just watched the Jay Leno vid and read that article. This car seems amazing.

The price is way out of my reach, but I do remember when GT500KRs started at what 80 grand? (I could be wrong on that but I think that's what they cost MSRP) And I remember some folks paying 100k for them after dealer markup.

Now you can get into one for under 50k, but of course it's 10 years later.

Maybe I'll get a 2020 in 2030 if I'm still alive :)

I agree. REs can't put the power down as well as the GT500.
Its really strange, but the RE is incredibly good at putting the power down out of the box. It easily turns mid 1.4's out of the box, on smallish 305-45-17's.
effortless 1.4s..way more repeatable than any of my previous Cobras, corvettes.. So IF the new 2020 Cobra can beat that, its deserves a lot of credit.

In stock form the Demon is a high 10 second car for most that took it to the track. But yea a full second slower in testing just isn't gonna hang with a Demon in stock form but after ppl start tweaking these I bet they're pretty close in performance from a straight line.

At the roundy round track I like to call it im sure the 500 will out perform the Demon so "Beating" the Demon is kind of a loose statement cause u would have to be more specific as to which arena were referring to.

To most that arena is gonna be the street in a straight line race so yea I guess ur right it aint beating the Demon there.
Demons run 10.0 with ease. 100% Stock. I have personally seen it at Atco a few times over the past few weeks and verified the car was plain Jain stock in the pits..
9.6 on the other hand I have not personally seen. only heard of it.

but that was not a Ford factory car, this was a shelby modified car from Las Vegas.

No they don't run 10.0 easy , go to any other track in summer months and you will see what they run , I have seen around 10 of them run . Sea level Atco track in this cold fall weather has negative DA , that's another ball game

OK, let me get right down to a slower track in hot weather so I can see everyone's "true" times..
Thanks for that tip!

99% sure the 2008 KR was a off the line production car, from Ford.

nope, Shelby got stock Mustang GT500’s from Ford, made on the Flat Rock assembly line, shipped to Las Vegas, and there Shelby made them into KRs

All KRs were made in Vegas

Those 2008 KRs were slightly different as they were sold by Ford dealers with a Ford window sticker though. I remember seeing them on the lots brand new.

Same as the Shelby GT, which was a 3V GT modded by Shelby autos then sold through dealers. Also got a Shelby serial # that way.

Collectors consider them more of a ‘true’ Shelby than the all factory GT500 of the same era.

all this talk about demon vs GT500 and i've yet to see a simple question answered..

What does the demon run factory stock? And when i say factory stock, i mean just that, the way it was built on the assembly line. Four full sized tires, factory 808hp tune and 93 octane pump fuel in the tank.

Negative da with extra VHT for 1000’. Not to mention skinnies no interior and an extra tune from dodge.

Viper ACR? Likely not although im really not sure. Sounds like this new 500 is a brute on track.

Also.. .my comments were more aimed at the past "Demon vs 500" drag contest threads.... there were plenty.
So it’s as fast as a stock demon on the strip and as fast as a stock acr on the track, I think the price is slightly better too. Interesting.

I also just read that it shifts slower in drag mode for more traction. Interesting...

I have no idea if this is the quickest out there, but meets your requirements.

10.5X ~3000 DA no transbrake or over boost used

There is evidence of a 10.2X run, but haven't tried very hard to confirm it.
