Been researching this vehicle the last couple days and seriously considering replacing the wifes daily with one. Reviews seem really positive and for the money at the SX trim level you get a lot of features.

Starts at 44k for the SX package with AWD, add 2k for the Prestige package gets you nappa leather, heated/ventilated 2nd row, premium headliner, rain sensing wipers,HUD, and a 110 inverter. Lots of features for sub 50k with a 10 year 100k powertrain warranty. Way cheaper than Fords people mover. I realize it's smaller than an Expedition and it doesn't have the towing capability but a comparably equipped Expedition would have to be a Limited starting in the 60's. (I would reference an actual number here but at the time Fords pos website is not working on my phone, go figure.)
63345 according to Google.

Always owned Fords, been a Ford tech for 20+ years and I think it's time for something different.

For the money you can't beat it. All the reviews and ones I've seen in person have been A+. The only downside is that it has a Kia badge on it (resale value meh) but otherwise, I'd say it's a solid more affordable option than Ford.

Can't imagine you'd have any worse issues than you would with the Ford.

I see 3x more of those than the new Explorer.

Seems like it's a good bang for your buck for a 7 seater.

The powertrain warranty is a killer term too.

Only downside I've read is the lack of torque. But if it's purely a people mover and the driver doesn't care to accelerate fast then it's a moot point.

I saw a brand new, looked to be higher trim, one of these with paper plates, charcoal colored with black wheels while I was at a stop light. It looks really stunning for a full size SUV from every angle. I drove past it when the light turned green.

I've embarrassed myself a few times admiring these. I thought they were more on par with an Explorer versus an Expedition.

291/262... so maybe a tad underpowered for that size of a vehicle? Most wives wont care though.

How's Kia's reliability and repair-ability?

It says a lot when this thing catches the eye of car guys driving by...and I'm one of the ones that turns my head.

As mentioned above, the only downside to it is the Kia badge (much like the Stinger).

Wife and I looked an looked for an SX model in the Indianapolis area with no luck. We wanted a decent sized SUV without spending 60K+. Just wanted to at least sit in one but EVERY one that was delivered, sold within 15 minutes of being unloaded off the hauler. We just picked up (Saturday) a local dealers last 2019 Durango R/T with the blacktop and tech package for close to 10K off the sticker. Only had 70 miles on it and obviously, it's got a Hemi :) . We have owned 2 KIA Optimas SX's, a 2013 and a 2015. They were both very reliable and neither went into the shop for anything other than oil changes. The one thing I didn't like about KIA (other than their crappy looking logo, c'mon KIA fix this please!!!!), was the metal on the car seemed ridiculously thin. The doors felt and sounded like an aluminum can when you closed them and the road noise was pretty significant.

I think we are going to make a trip to test drive one this weekend. I will pay attention to road noise, thanks for the heads up. We have owned a Flex since 2011, and couldn't be happier with it. Brother and his wife are on their second Flex and he complains about the newer one being less quality, more noisy than the last one is ine of his big gripes. Sadly, I think quality is not job 1 across the board in any make anymore.

my concern with the kia would be that it's gonna be worth $0.27 next year as used car. Maybe things have changed a little but 2-3 years ago Kia's most expensive car was #1 in depreciation and was losing somewhere between 30-50% in year one (again, I might not be remembering this exactly right but it was a staggering number)

My coworker bought one a while ago and absolutely loves it. It has a lot of features for the price. Obviously, time will tell, but he thinks the initial quality is good.

Could not agree more. I saw one and thought it was the mackdaddy volvo that costs $100k. Very handsome ride.

Their are 2 in my development. Very nice looking vehicles. They sell very well with the average transaction price around 40k I believe as well so people are not just buying the base models.

The 18 Kia Optima is much more quite than a 14 year model with the same trim.
As mentioned above, if you can wait until the 21 year model comes out you will save a bundle.

Looks good. Wife and I are looking to replace our POS Honda Odyssey. She wants bigger than my 2010 Explorer. Not sure if this is bigger or on par. Of course most likely will by used as no reason for me to take the massive drop in value just driving the car off the lot.

I agree with the above that I’ve seen a few on the road and they look damn nice. If my wife didn’t have an XC90 already I’d have her test drive one.

Wouldn't catch me dead in any Kia/Hyundai. Anyone needing 3 rows, might seriously consider the 20' Honda Pilot
